Alexis Sanchez

Ha, this could go on for days with nothing really concrete to base anything either way.

I can't wait until this is all over, but I enjoy it all the same.

If we want Sanchez then he should be part of the Suarez deal because we'll get better value that way (or any decent negotiator would get better value, not sure about Ayre) ! In separate deals if we get the max from Barca for Suarez then Barca are going to screw us for the max from Sanchez. A compromise may see us get slightly better value.

Sure, if he WANTS to come. But I'm still suspicious about player plus cash deals for our very best assets. If someone comes in, says they'd like to buy your favourite easy chair, offers half what you value it for and gives you a table as well, you still need to go out and get another easy chair with half the cash value of the last one. It's no good sitting on the floor boasting about what a bargain the new table was. If we sell our best striker for about £30-40m less than what his value is, and get more of an attacking wide man in his place, we must go out and get another proven top class striker, and there aren't many out there for what Barca are likely to pay us. They're taking the piss. It's what they do. But they're supposed to be our rivals in the Champions League next season, and we're selling our most dangerous player to them. We're not some pathetic feeder club. We need to screw them, not the other way round.

Thanks Rafa! 😉

I've never explicitly said I don't want to open a tiger sanctuary in Yemen

Doesn't mean I fucking want to though does it

For me, I can't see why he'd come to us.

He's replacing one of the world's best. He's on to a downer from the get go

Take the money, if Sanchez doesn't want to come, fuck him . Why are we trying to convince him to join us? He shouldn't need convincing? After the season we just had and the style of play Sanchez should be foaming at the mouth or wanking thinking of all the goals he'll be scoring or the various systems a young and progressive manager like Rodgers will be deploying. Like I said earlier if he wants to join Arsenal then fuck him, let him enjoy the sights of London a bit of warm weather and Arsenal continuing to bottle it on an annual basis in the league we only want players who want to play for us. Get Greizmann!

It's nonsense about #LFC being told Alexis Sanchez doesn't want to join us. We are in dialogue with his agent about wanting to sign him.

this lad know anything ?

Dunno but getting past the point of caring already. Wither we get precisely what we want (assuming everybody is happy at £50m and Sanchez/£80m) or Barca and Suarez can both get told whistle, as it is we could probably bring a case against Luis (you wouldn't while he's here, but still) for economic damages against the team, and Barca for tapping up.

Well no-one has suggested we sell Suarez for less than he's worth (or his buyout clause is) !

Sanchez scored 19 goals in the league with 10 assists last season in 31 matches. Match him up with Sturridge / Sterling / Lallana / + / + / Gerrard he would almost certainly match that here .. IMO of course. Along with our other new players he can be our new striker alongside Sturridge.

Which of course would work based on precedent .... oh err.

Yeah because there's been a knob with his profile, on 200k a week, who has bitten 3 players at times in the last 4 years.

The club should pack him a lunch, and sell him for £40m because it's his dream don't you know 🙄

WTF are you waffling on about ?!

Luis may be suspended for 1/4 of the season, but he never gets injured. He also is a great trainer, and surely an inspiration to the youngsters on the team. On the other hand, one more bite in England (and I no longer believe that's unlikely) and I think he would be banned for a minimum of 1 year. That's the gamble we'd take in keeping him. Much as I hate to advocate the departure of such an incredible player, I think we have to get rid now.

Presumably we've been in a dialogue with Suarez's agent about him staying. It doesn't say much about the player. Usually (now more than ever thanks to social media etc) if a player is keen on a move he finds a way to let people know about it. But all we can do is wait and see.

Maybe I'm wrong but don't see him as a main striker. And that's what we need. And if we only receive part of what Suarez is worth in cash, that's a hard position to fill without being weakened.

We ain't Spurs! We are mother f*****g Liverpool!
Same principle applies, spending large money recieved from Cash from a transfer is hard and can be easily fucked up regardless who you are, like how we used the the Torres money.

Easily fixed: "If Sanchez goes to arsenal you don't get Suarez"

Why should we be severely weakened only for that deal to be financed by one of our competitors being strengthened?

It should be A Matter of fact, not up for debate but you just know we will bet shafted in this whole debacle...

Only if there is no release clause..

Hold on. Nobody wanted or mentioned Sanchez before the world cup and now were happy to sign off 30m of the Suarez fee for him?

Surely if Sanchez goes to Barcelona for 30m and we get our full 80m valuation it doesnt really matter?!

I dont mind either way, I like Sanchez but I also like 30m to spend on a top class player like Greizmann or Benzema or Vidal.
With 50m for a back up to Sturridge and defensive options.

Personally I'm bothered for the following reasons:

1. I think Sanchez is actually a very good deal at £30m. I think we'll have to pay more for an equivalent player.
2. It helps to curb the inflated fees we might encounter with £70-80m in our pocket to receive part of the fee in the form of a player.
3. There aren't actually many world class strikers out there right now, it seems to me. I struggle to think of alternative, particularly one that will happily sign for us.
4. IMO as a player Sanchez was a peculiarly good solution, in that he's primarily a striker, but also versatile, which is always good, and especially considering that it allows us the option of playing a 4-3-3 with Sturridge through the middle. As rare as top class strikers are, ones who are just as comfortable across the forward line are much rarer still.

Why would you open a tiger sanctuary in Yemen? That's not their natural habitat.

Fool.
