As @Modo and @Ryan mentioned in the Transfer Rumours thread, he's been linked with us quite heavily today. Both Telegraph and Mirror suggesting he'll be playing in the hole behind the strikers.

[article=http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/liverpool/10793724/Liverpool-expected-to-rekindle-interest-in-Southamptons-England-international-Adam-Lallana-in-the-summer.html]Liverpool are expected to pursue an interest in Southampton’s Adam Lallana in the summer with the possibility of the England international playing in the hole behind Luis Suárez and Daniel Sturridge.

Lallana, who was named in the PFA Team of the Season, has a groin problem but he is determined to play in Southampton’s final two games of the season.

Liverpool are expected to invest in up to five new players as the club prepare for Champions League football next season.

The 25-year-old, who has been at the south-coast club since 2000, has sparkled this season in Southampton's attack, and earned the first of his three international caps in November in the 2-0 friendly defeat to Chile at Wembley alongside club teammates Rickie Lambert and Jay Rodriguez.

Lallana then started for England in the 1-0 loss to Germany later that month and gained his third international outing in March, once more at Wembley, impressing from the off the bench. After replacing Jack Wilshere he assisted Sturridge's late headed goal in the 1-0 victory.[/article]

[article=http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2615365/Adam-Lallana-lift-Brendan-Rodgers-Saints-star-ready-snub-Man-United-Liverpool-move.html#ixzz30EIj99R6 ]Adam Lallana looks set to snub Manchester United after setting his heart on a summer move to Liverpool.

Sportsmail revealed last week that United planned a £55million double deal for Southampton pair Lallana and Luke Shaw.

But while Shaw, 18, is preparing for a move to Old Trafford, England midfielder Lallana has decided on Merseyside.

Southampton continue to insist their star players are going nowhere but should be braced for offers as soon as the season finishes next month.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers will authorise an opening bid of around £15m for Lallana, who is expected to play in the hole behind Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge. He can expect to double his £35,000-a-week earnings.

Roy Hodgson will name the 25-year-old in his England World Cup squad despite nagging concerns over a groin injury, which might have kept him out of the final two Barclays Premier League matches.

However, the Southampton captain wants to face Swansea on Saturday before signing off against Manchester United on the final day of the season.

The Southampton board face a potentially tricky summer, with left back Shaw also unwilling to delay his move to a big club any longer.

United and Chelsea are both keen on him and the teenager is worried that he may miss the boat if he gives it another year on the south coast.

Saints will also find it difficult to hold on to central defender Dejan Lovren after an outstanding season.

The Croat has been linked with Liverpool and clubs across Europe just 12 months after arriving in an £8million move from Lyon.

Even more worryingly, there are fears that manager Mauricio Pochettino will snub planned contract talks next month as the chance to manage Tottenham looms larger.

The Argentine’s deal expires at the end of next season.

[article=http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-transfer-news-adam-lallana-3471827#ixzz30EJUkQBL ]Adam Lallana is set to become the first piece in Liverpool’s Champions League jigsaw next season.

The England midfielder – a boyhood Everton fan – has his heart set on a move to Anfield.

Chelsea and Manchester United have both targeted Lallana but the player is intent on a move to Merseyside, as Brendan Rodgers looks to add to his title challenging squad.

Liverpool believe they can land the 25-year-old for around £20million and that Southampton owner Katharina Liebherr is prepared to green light a sale.

And the Anfield outfit are ready to offer Lallana a four-year deal worth double his current £35,000-a-week wages.

Lallana has said nothing publicly about his intentions and has no wish to create any ill-will with the Saints fans after skippering the club he joined as a 12-year-old for the past two seasons.

The winger has been instrumental in Southampton's impressive form this season, which sees the Saints sitting pretty in 8th place in the Premier League table.

He has also made his England debut, and will hope to be in Roy Hodgson's squad for the World Cup in Brazil this summer.[/article]

[article=http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/376379/Liverpool-will-win-battle-with-Manchester-United-to-snap-up-Southampton-star-Adam-Lallana]LIVERPOOL are poised to battle off Manchester United to land England ace Adam Lallana.

That's the view of the bookmakers after fresh reports emerged over the weekend that Lallana could swap St Mary's for Anfield.

But now Liverpool are reportedly ready to offer Lallana £50,000-a-week deal to edge out United.

The odds compilers have reacted by making the Reds the 6/4 favourites to sign the midfielder when the transfer window reopens.

United are at 7/2 with Chelsea (12/1) and Manchester City (14/1) ranked as outsiders.

Lallana, 25, is tied down until 2018 after he penned a new five-year deal in April.

Lallana has been at Saints since the age of 12 and has been one of the stars of their rapid rise from the bottom of League One to contenders for Europe.

He is valued at around £25m.[/article]

As Modo previously said, let's not do a another Carroll. I like Lallana but not for £35million

£15m and I'd take him, would be reluctant to pay anything more than that really. If we got him, Kono on a permo conno, a couple of good full backs, and maybe a defensive midfielder, we would look good for a number of years.

is he better than coutinho ? sounds like they'll be in competition for a place .

didn't you say the same about allen ? and he's just 'good' , miles from being brilliant or excellent or top class or even in the team when everyone is fit .

[article=http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2613719/Adam-Lallana-NOT-Man-United-sake-career.html]Rooney (10) was leading the line - something he wouldn't be doing in a full-strength United side with Robin van Persie available - and was playing deeper than right-winger Nani (17).
Even this is a rarity. Mata (8) and Kagawa (26) are bunched in the middle, but Nani would not normally be in the side - and certainly won't next season.

Normally you'd see Rooney behind a leading man, with Mata supposedly on the right. Add Lallana into the mix, possibly playing on the left side of that three, and you'd have another player who likes to drift in to the middle to create chances.

He may often start from out wide, but he's no winger, he cuts inside to create chances and help dictate the Saints' passing game.

Lallana heat map v Aston Villa - from Squawka.com

Look at Lallana's heat map from his last Southampton outing, the drab 0-0 draw at Villa Park. He plays, and excels behind the striker - a huge amount of his work is done in the middle.

His statistics from this season show how this is his the position which earned him a nomination for the PFA Player of the Year award.

Not only are his 65 chances created a huge amount, it's almost rivalled by his 57 tackles.

This is testament to his crucial nature to Southampton's high-pressing game, as are his 37 interceptions.

But these all take place in the centre of the pitch. Buy him for £30million and stick him out on the left, and see all those statistics go down.

That's why Mata hasn't made too much of an impact since his own mega deal to Old Trafford from Chelsea.

Because of Rooney's top billing and new deal, he will be playing in the centre of the park.

United thrive on flying wingers like Adnan Januzaj - and even he is happiest with the freedom to cut inside. An albeit wonderfully talented attacking midfield of Lallana, Rooney and Mata would see very little direct running on the flanks.

Instead, there would be a 'too many cooks' situation in the middle of the park, with Lallana's influence on games dulled.

For the sake of his career - for club and country - he must resist a move to United.[/article]

havent really seen much of this lallana lad... 25M.... bit steep....

I remember people raving about Charlie Adam as well...

Personally haven't seen much of him this season.

Just curious, how would @Ryan line up the starting XI IF we do get Lallana? I presume you'll have him in the starting XI?

Comparing Lallana to Charlie Adam is like comparing Carroll to Suarez.

Really? I remember Adam was considered to be a good quality passer of the ball etc...

I'm just not sure why at 25 suddenly he is the next best thing since sliced bread, 25M is a shed load of cash...

Damn it Ryan I don't actually know whether you are in your default narky sarcy mode or you actually really rate the fella!

I've personally seen about 10 minutes of the guy... what's he good at??

He's a very good player and we do need someone competing with Coutinho, but 25m would be very steep for a player who's 25 already and isn't exactly of Silva quality, who City could get for 24m from the continent.

We should be looking to spend the £15m to £20m range on him, not more. Personally I can see us getting both he and Konoplyanka, who will be going for a lot less this summer I reckon.

Allen is starting to show the form of his first few months with us. Given Rodger's ability to transform Henderson and Sterling I have hope he can get Joe firing again.

As for Lallana, there's the niggling doubt he's a one season wonder. Anything over £20m would be a massive gamble.

Lallana looks quality. There would be a niggling concern he's a signing in the Ashley Young school– a player who looks amazing for a middling club, but perhaps not cut out for the top teams. I don't believe that's the case with Lallana, he really has a lot of strings to his bow. 15-20 and I'd take him. If we can sign both he and Kono for around 30m, then we're looking pretty strong up front.

I like Lallana too, but we'll get stung big time, especially if the Manc's interest is true. Southampton know we'll both be looking to spend big, and he's not worth a punt over £15m-20m, in this market anyway, he's not worth that even, on the back of one season. English premium is shite and it'll end up in the £25m-£30m zone, which is just ridiculous. I'm not convinced by the Ukranian fella though, so I'd take Lallana over him, but we need to be a bit shrewd with our money and not just blow a wad again, just because we can.

Ive been talking about Lallana since he was an academy player for Saints breaking into the first team.
My mate Andy who ive mentioned before is a season ticket holder and has always said that Lallana is THE best of this generation of players. Obviously Bale has gone on to be something special but Andy has always said Lallana is the most important player they have. He is the one who controls their team.
