lots going on for us football wise prior to this but be a nice trip !

Liverpool FC will make the trip to Singapore for the second game of their 2022/23 pre-season in July, where they’ll face fellow Premier League side Crystal Palace.

Jurgen Klopp’s men will visit the National Stadium in Singapore on Friday 15 July, to take on Palace in the Standard Chartered Singapore Trophy 2022.

This will be the third time Liverpool FC has visited Singapore, following two games in 2001 and 2009, and an open training session in 2011. It’s the first time the Reds will be back in Asia since 2017.
The first part of 2022/23 pre-season will see Liverpool FC take on Manchester United in the Rajamangala Stadium, Bangkok, on Tuesday 12 July.

Singapore is an excellent city break quite the polar opposite of Bangkok (although it"s also a brilliant place to visit) wish I could follow them there this summer.

For anyone going don't forget to watch National Geographic's Aircrash Investigations the night before you fly out.
Psych yourself up for the big game and trip

At the risk of upsetting Binny - Singapore’s shit.

I mean, it’s safe, clean, hi tech - if you’ve never been to Asia, it’s as westernised as you’ll find.

It’s been a few years since I did a stopover - but it’s expensive in comparison to other places and just so plastic touristy.

Clark Quay is like hell on earth - every plastic theme bar you could wish for.

To be fair, all the big stopover places in Asia are much the same.

Also - I’ve never actually been to Bangkok.

Please accept our humble apologies for being too westernised, safe and high tech for your Asian fantasies!!

(but in all honesty, yes I would not choose to come here for a trip with the boys. Bring your kids, or your in laws, though.)

Ah look… I don’t mean to offend like - first time I went to Singapore the most interesting thing I did was visit Changi Prison - which was really interesting (albeit horrific).

I think what I mean is, for the most part there isn’t anything unique about Singapore - it could literally be any big city in the world - but I would go to Singapore to sit in an Aussie / Kiwi / Scottish / Irish theme bar - that might very well be more on me, though.

I enjoyed Kula Lumpur and Hong Kong more the times I visited there.

Singapore just feels like a bit “sterile” and the sort of place where “brand” is everything.

Im not saying European cities are any better in many cases - I don’t really like going to London much either and I need @the count to keep me right every time I end up in Dublin.

(which reminds me @the count - I may be back over at Xmas - so get your drinking boots ready).

You too @momoWASboss - in case I try to catch a Liverpool game over Xmas.

Singapore has the best airport in the world.

And a really good Universal Studios park

That's the sum of my knowledge/experience of Singapore, though in fairness the airport observation is based on many many visits to Changhi and other international airports and I will not be challenged on my assessment of it.

And you're not allowed to throw your chewing gum away on the streets.

That's as much as I know.

Haha no offence, I was just ribbing.
It is literally like any big city in the world, and Singaporeans themselves have their fun in the region. Can't have it all I guess.

I’ve been to Malaysia, and I did enjoy that, enjoyed Kuala Lumpar too.
Always fancied Singapore, but second thoughts after reading comments.

Canada end of next month …soon be getting psyched up for that flight.
Wont be watching air crash investigations !@737Max 😱

I'm away.

I just had a bad experience trying to get a decent glass of wine and took the hump.

Pfffft you big softie

Avoid the stinky Durian fruit for those that go or cross into Malaysia. It's definitely marmite

Who goes to a country just because they have a decent airport?

Oh wait Tombrown confirms he's an Airplane geek

I'm playing pal

Totally agree. I keep getting the vibe that people there are generally stuck up, no offense obv.

They only wanna hang with you once they've discovered how deep your pockets are or if you're a top, top crypto investor.

Yeah, generally how I saw it too.
Will be there in Aug so will miss this one.
Every time visit SG, great for weekend trip but not enough there to see for a week.
KL is better over the border for more things to do but my spend most of the time in Penang, just prefer the hotels, beach and fusion food on the Island.

That Disneyland with the death penalty essay William Gibson did about the place freaked me out, but not as much as a Boston dynamics robot dog telling people to leave the park during covid

Yeah...unless you intend to bring in drugs, or start a riot, Singapore is nothing to freak out about. The government is no more (or less) creepy, paranoid or overbearing than any other government on this planet, just a little more efficient and quirky at being so.
