A trip to Singapore

At this stage I’m laughing.
I won’t be when I get on board but once up there I chill, well a little. Ha
2 Xanax and loads of alcohol. You won't feel a thing when the plane goes down. You'll be so off your face you'll think you're tripping. Take the shrooms before you go through security too for an added "off your face" experience

Who goes to a country just because they have a decent airport?

Oh wait Tombrown confirms he's an Airplane geek

I'm playing pal
Guilty

But' I didn't go to Singapore to see the airport, I just used the airport for connecting flights to/from Penang for many a year

I wanted to try Durian in Penang, but the time I was there and it was in season & I was all ready for it, I was advised that I shouldn't drink alcohol with it, and that was a step too far for me.

Hahahaha

I remember in Malaysia going to a Durian shop where all they sold was Durian stuff. Durian milkshake, Durian cheesecake. I tried some of it. Meh, not for me

Just heard about the man from Singapore that was executed by hanging for possession of heroin. He had a relatively low IQ of 64 and it caused international outrage because of this. That's so sad and extreme.

If the overall standard of life was good for everyone we wouldn't have to have this big fear for the potential impact of drug on individuals and society. We got it the wrong way around.

I live in Canada and weed has been legal here for a few years... the country hasn't ground to a stand still because if this...

Yep he was supplying SG with 43g.
Mad place (no offense to our singaporeons), even when I was driving to SG from JB for 2 days, never felt more nervous at the border checkins and I was doing nothing wrong.

It's a disgrace. A completely useless law that is there for all the wrong reasons.

Ah look… I don’t mean to offend like - first time I went to Singapore the most interesting thing I did was visit Changi Prison - which was really interesting (albeit horrific).

I think what I mean is, for the most part there isn’t anything unique about Singapore - it could literally be any big city in the world - but I would go to Singapore to sit in an Aussie / Kiwi / Scottish / Irish theme bar - that might very well be more on me, though.

I enjoyed Kula Lumpur and Hong Kong more the times I visited there.

Singapore just feels like a bit “sterile” and the sort of place where “brand” is everything.

Im not saying European cities are any better in many cases - I don’t really like going to London much either and I need @the count to keep me right every time I end up in Dublin.

(which reminds me @the count - I may be back over at Xmas - so get your drinking boots ready).

You too @momoWASboss - in case I try to catch a Liverpool game over Xmas.

To me it is the perfect gateway city - East meets West. I can totally see a westerner getting overwhelmed if they land in Mumbai or Delhi or not wanting to stay in Bangkok for a long period of time. Same way, I know several Indians, who could not hack it in US or Europe or Australia. Nothing against those places, they found the transition to be a bit too much.

Singapore is like an ideal transition point for those people. A friend of mine moved to US from India, did not settle well, moved back to India. Then went to Singapore, lived there for 5 years; moved again back to US and now likes it here. It could be the age, circumstances, and maturity aspect also which led him to settle better in US second time. But there is something about Singapore which lets you slowly immerse yourself into other cultures. Atleast for the East to West transition. Not sure if it works the other way around.
