I'm pretty sure sure people are forgetting the mire that Rafa and Hodgson left us in.

You can't turnover a squad as bad as we had in two transfer windows , I've been as critical as anyone of the signings we made - Downing was easy to call as a bad deal from the moment it was rumoured and Carroll is the biggest gamble the club has ever made.

But if Henderson had any fanboys they'd be creaming themselves over his performance last night where he was successful with 95% of his passes, hit the post with a nice shot, showed he can break up the play and is physically gifted enough to be quite effective on the break.
Adam and Enrique have been the kind of no-fuss talented players that can be picked up at reasonable prices and provide way more value than you could imagine . Both have been up there with the best in their positions this season.

We've also seen some turnover in the the senior roles as well, Carragher being eased out - Skrtel and Agger playing well together and Kelly and Coates both rank as being very promising in the long term. Gerrard is no longer crucial to everything we do, although I'd still like him to play his part.

We've made strides in removing some of the bad contracts that were hindering us but some of them still linger, and they're more difficult to shift now than ever before because revenue growth in the game has stagnated.

It's pretty clear to everyone things have been turned around, if you're not happy about that then I'm not sure what I can say
Trust me I am, he was fantastic last night.
I'm coming around to him as well. I think a midfield three of Lucas, Adam and Henderson has a nice balance to it, too.

He was bought as a direct Gerrard replacement wasn't he?
It appears that way.

We shouldnt have sold Meireles. It was my main concern last summer.
But "Productive player like Torres" well, the last time he was productive was in 2009 maybe..

Had we beaten the small teams at home we'd still be in the top 4. No brainers.
9 goals by January last season is pretty productive if you asked me, maybe you should think before typing in future, or preferably, just don't type.

Indeed it does, I just hope he doesn't start getting compared to Gerrard, as that's a comparison he won't be able match. He does look like he's got a good future with us though, I think next season we'll really see him shine, at the top of a three, like last night, is where I really think he shines. The more I watch him the more he reminds me of Lampard.

I hope Dalglish is still here next season (although I'm starting to doubt he will be here if we're not in the top 4 places in December 2012) but I hope in January and in the summer we see a bit more Comoli in the transfer market and a bit less Kenny.

I can't help thinking Carroll/Downing/Adam were Dalglish picks and Suarez, Enrique and Coates were Comoli picks - I don't know why!

wrong as usual. torres scored 18 in 22 games in 09/10, and was in brilliant goalscoring form when we sold him.

preactically his only quiet patch during his whole LFC stay was during Hodgson's regin. go figure.

I thought Kenny was looking into Suarez when Rafa was in charge?

i'm pretty sure enrique was said to be kenny's choice. suarez was benitez's choice.

We'll get top 4 this season.
At whose expense?
Chelsea won't be there and I don't expect Arsenal to be there either.

The only caveat I'll offer is it depends a little on Roman's state of mind in January. If he buys Barcelona then they'll still be in the race for 4th. :-\

I think all our rivals will drop points but I think we'll have more fuck ups then they will, especially considering we couldn't find the goal if someone drew us a map.
According to Kenny in his autobiography both Suarez and Carroll were Comoli picks.
It makes sense as Kenny was in the managers seat less than a month by the time the January window closed.

I got the impression from the book that Comoli recommends a player and Kenny has the right to veto it.

That said Kenny does mention Jordan Henderson over a season ago so he clearly had his eye on him.

Peters lack of patience is laughable given he's Rafa's number one fan. We pla yed some good stuff last night, I agree there are issues but it was just a bad day at the office.
maybe. but i was only patient (not that his record demanded patience) because he was so fucking good right from the start and it was obvious we were building something. i felt the same but to a lesser extent with GH. i feel the opposite with Kenny.

Sorry, but why should i lie? and fair play if you all feel differently.

?? ??? Wh...??? What???

By this date in Rafa's first year we were 7th and 15 points behind the leaders. The highest we'd been to that point was 6th.

How is that being so good right from the start??

Rafa's first season was a nightmare where, with far less competition for 4th, we finished 5th behind the bitters. We looked most likely to go out of the CL in December except for a wonder goal from Stevie.

What's more, the first part of the following season was a nightmare as well - 13th in the league and out of the title race in October.

It took Rafa nearly one and a half seasons to even begin to look like he would ever understand how to perform in this league.

Look this result was disappointing. But it was the first game we lost in 10. We were awful last year for the first half and still finished 6th. I think we will be there or thereabouts. We may sneak in, but it will be under the wire.

Progress not perfection here lads. It's always going to be 5 steps forward and 2 back this season.

Listen, I'm going to stick to my theory because it conforms to my theory ok?
Ha.
To be fair you are not the only one to mix up conjecture as fact.
At least you admit to doing it 😛

I reckon our only, and I mean ONLY, hope of finishing 4th is to sign Gonzalo Higuain, start playing Maxi, and drop Spearing.

Be fair the injuries that season was horrific, we had half the team out for the entire season!

I just double checked and only FOUR players made over 30 premiership apperances that season, which is the lowest number Ever for a Liverpool Squad!

We need a striker who knows how to hit the back of the net. Our finishing is woeful. Get that sorted and just maybe we'll scrape it!

Yes we don't have the luxury of indulging/carrying carroll anymore. You sign a player for big money, you need to see goals.

I wouldn't mind so much about the lack of goals, if we was causing others to score or causing problems for their defence. He's currently doing nothing.

To be fair to him Carroll looked alright last night and was unlucky not to score, still not good enough mind.

Ok ok we sold Torres when he was at his peak for us and 50M was even too low.

We had not seen the best Torres for almost 2 years, he wasnt even bothered wearing the shirt.(Thats the most important in my eyes)
He wasnt productive when we sold him.

Yet if he continued in the same vien he'd have scored ~20 goals that season, absolutely terrible.

He didnt want to play for us anymore.
Thats all that matters to me, players should be proud to wear our shirt or they can fuck off.
Bye bye Nino, lets move forward

Wizardry:

04/05: LFC won the Uefa Champions League for the first time in its existence with possibly the worst group of players ever to have achieved such a feat. They got to the final of the League Cup, and were unlucky not to beat a vastly superior team. They signed Alonso and Luis Garcia, both influential in delivering more glory than the club had seen in 20 years. They beat Juventus, Chelsea and a brilliant Milan team in winning number 5. Given the previous 2 years' performances and Houllier's dismal legacy the league form was no more than a mild disappointment.

05/06: after only being given a modest transfer budget with which to rebuild the same dreadful Houllier squad, he achieved a PL points haul of 82 points, then the highest ever by an LFC team. He also won the FA cup. We weren't out of the title race in October, because any rational person could see we were out of it in August: please refer to Mourinho's Chelsea and compare to LFC's playing and financial resources.

Cheers
