Aww Peter ( ok it wasn't you Peter who said it, whoever the fuck it was I can't tell ) he has us playing some lovely football, the signings haven't really clicked yet but we are only 13 games in, and the direction he is taking us is UP.

If we had won yesterday it would have been the 7th straight away win which would have equalled our Record as a Club which was last set by Manager Kenny Daglish in 1988.

FFS get a grip ...

i don't care. i don't buy it that we're gonna improve significantly. i think another manager could do a better job.

therefore i hope he's not here next season.

Fair enough

Personally I hope he is here next season.

Some of the signings haven't worked out yet, but I have seen us buy much worse.

You clearly wanted (and still want) extra time for Benitez. What's wrong with wanting extra time for Dalglish?

I hope kenny is here next season.
I like our style of player, I think we are moving in the right direction and simply don't have the points our dominance deserves.
there are questions marks over some of his expensive signings but at least two of them are young enough to turn their fortunes around.

Just as a heads up Peter, I can disagree with anything I want to; I don't need anyones authorisation to do so.

I disagree with Kenny taking us in the wrong direction.

I disagree with not wanting Kenny here next season.

I disagree with wanting Rafa back.

I disagree with them being the worst signings you've ever seen as a fan - unless you're about 4.

I even disagree with your punctuation and your missing capital letters to begin a sentence.

You know what, I even disagree with your disagreements. 😱

Like I said, I could not disagree with that post more.
you missed the point, like the dimwit you clearly are. those other things you 'disagree' with are facts. they can make you angry, but you can't actually sanely disagree with them.
Just for the record; you didn't state a single "fact" in this entire page let alone that post.

You gave a number of opinions and it may well be a "fact" that they are your opinions but that doesn't change the "fact" they are still just your opinions.

Hope that clears things up for you.

nothing at all. i accept most people do want it, and personally i'd hate to see him sacked before the end of the season. but when you've got no faith in a manager taking us where you want to go, it's only logical that you'd prefer he went, sooner or later.

He will be here next season, there is no doubt about it, to say we have been unlucky hitting the woodwork 15 times getting goakls dissalowed, and players sent off that shouldn't have, is understating the matter.

We should be scoring more goals thats a fact, we should be beating the teams we have lost and drew against thats a fact

But for fucks sake its a learning curve not just for the new players, but for the new manager, and I have faith they and he will get things right, if not for 4th this season (which I still think we can achieve) then for next season for sure ......

Again, fair enough. In fact I know the feeling very well from a few years ago!

I'm surprised you have made your mind up so quickly though, since Dalglish hasn't just come along and carried on with things the way they were. He has made changes to both the playing staff and coaching staff. I would have thought most people would give him a chance to continue with that. After all, Benitez was given a longer, and his changes didn't change everything overnight.

In fact, in his first season at the club as I recall we weren't doing much (if any) better in the league as we are this season.

Kenny will be here next Season if he still wants the job.

Can't think of a manager I'd rather have on the sidelines and he has taken us well forward. Job it still there to be done but he's oozing class, loves the club and have the respect of the players. What more do you want?

Kenny was the last manager to bring home the League title and he'll be the next one to do it as well. Watch this space.

i suppose the main problem is that i really think we've gone in completely the wrong direction in terms of transfer strategy and to some extent playing strategy as well: some times (recent games v chelsea) all looks fine, playing attractive, passing football, and with a pleasing boldness in attack, but others (like last night) we just look hopelessly confused about how to accomodate really quite incompatible options.

so, the transfers in and out have pissed me off mightily. as has the incredibly blatant bias in favour of players like hendo and downing at expense of maxi et al. i don't trust him to set up a team to control games - if we ever did get in the CL under him, i wouldn't expect to make it past the last 16.

basically, i think he's a decent enough manager, but hand on heart, do i see us getting anywhere much with him? not really. giving him no say on tfrs might be a step in the right direction, though.

Same space. Watch it.

I know you are a football-fan and as such fickle by nature but will you at least accept that LEGEND status isn't something that you achieve over night?

Perehaps Carroll will never be seen upon as anything other than an expensive flop but I still believe in the big lad.

If nothing else history should've shown knee-jerkers like yourself that Luc.... players can develop nicely over time if the willingness and raw ability is there.

I'm pretty sure sure people are forgetting the mire that Rafa and Hodgson left us in.

You can't turnover a squad as bad as we had in two transfer windows , I've been as critical as anyone of the signings we made - Downing was easy to call as a bad deal from the moment it was rumoured and Carroll is the biggest gamble the club has ever made.

But if Henderson had any fanboys they'd be creaming themselves over his performance last night where he was successful with 95% of his passes, hit the post with a nice shot, showed he can break up the play and is physically gifted enough to be quite effective on the break. Adam and Enrique have been the kind of no-fuss talented players that can be picked up at reasonable prices and provide way more value than you could imagine . Both have been up there with the best in their positions this season.

We've also seen some turnover in the the senior roles as well, Carragher being eased out - Skrtel and Agger playing well together and Kelly and Coates both rank as being very promising in the long term. Gerrard is no longer crucial to everything we do, although I'd still like him to play his part.

We've made strides in removing some of the bad contracts that were hindering us but some of them still linger, and they're more difficult to shift now than ever before because revenue growth in the game has stagnated.

It's pretty clear to everyone things have been turned around, if you're not happy about that then I'm not sure what I can say

that's not really a very good point, because i've always been patient and sanguine about Lucas even when 90% of this site was tearing shreds off him.

I really don't want to get involved in this discussion because my eyes will end up bleeding, I can feel it already...

But Asbo, Wizardry and Rosco are right. I don't want to get involved because I know Peter's sentiments on Benitez and he can't be swayed. But I don't agree.

So I don't really know why I'm typing this.

Asbo, I think the post you were referring to a couple of pages back was mine.

Peters lack of patience is laughable given he's Rafa's number one fan. We pla yed some good stuff last night, I agree there are issues but it was just a bad day at the office.

I agree, and that is what I was getting at. In some ways Dalglish's first season is not dissimilar to Benitez's.

Best striker left the club, replacement has been disappointing, success of signings have been mixed, league form has been patchy (but we are doing well in the League Cup!).

Big difference of course is the CL, but we are not in that, which isn't really Dalglish's fault. And in any case at this point in 2004/05 we were only just hanging on in that too

maybe. but i was only patient (not that his record demanded patience) because he was so fucking good right from the start and it was obvious we were building something. i felt the same but to a lesser extent with GH. i feel the opposite with Kenny.

Sorry, but why should i lie? and fair play if you all feel differently.

And it was all Glen Johnsons fault 😉

Very good post Ross. Although I think Downing can still be a good player for us. He better be at that fee. Henderson is developing nicely, he'll be a great player.

We wont get 4th, its pretty obvious now, but its not because of last nights defeat.
Main reason is because we cant beat the likes Sunderland, Norwich and Swansea at home.

That cost us the title in 2009, it will cost us the 4th this year

it's not the 'small teams at home' per se, it's that we don't score goals, and that's because we've spent £70-75m on carroll, downing, and henderson who just aren't delivering. henderson is a sound enough player, and will surely become a regular in the England squad, but imo he was bought to fulfil a creative, attacking, role that he's just not ready for.

no team can invest £70m+ poorly and not see an effect on the pitch, particularly when it's funded largley by selling excellent and productive players like Torres and Meireles.

Trust me I am, he was fantastic last night.

im just gonna forget we have a rivalry with united from now on cause theres no point, we're shite comapred to them, im gonna concentrate on the rivalry with everton cause at least we're better than them, albeit because theyre skint

We shouldnt have sold Meireles. It was my main concern last summer.
But "Productive player like Torres" well, the last time he was productive was in 2009 maybe..

Had we beaten the small teams at home we'd still be in the top 4. No brainers.
