4th isn't going to happen

A striker, a midfielder and a winger in january would be good. We need a goalpoacher, a creative spark and a defensive minded midfielder.
[/quote]

You are dreaming mate. There is no way we will buy 3 players in January. We might buy one, but the results need to improved before that. The owners are more likely to get into a shell, if things stand as it is. I doubt Henry and Co have a bottom less pit of money.

I'd be happy with just one signing - a player who can just sit in the box and finish.

Easier said than done, mind.

All this talk about a scouting network is overblown quite frankly.

Half of 6CM could've come up with better transfer targets than Downing and Carroll.

If we are off the pace for 4th spot by Jan, will that also affect their decision on amount to spend during the transfer window, since next season's revenue will be more or less affected by CL qualification?

We don't need better players, we just need the fucking players we have got to start scoring, fucking toothless useless fucking pile of shite.

The result today I'm fucking gutted.

Rule 1 of a Liverpool Manager ... ship out the last managers signings ASAP, even if one played brilliantly for you the season before
Rule 2 of a Liverpool Manager ... Never ever play someone else's signing even if he has scored 9 goals in his last 8 games, unless it is in a cup tie
Rule 3 of a Liverpool Manager ... be stubborn, if you signed him, he must play, even if he's low on confidence and out of form, even if there are better players on the bench or in the reserves (unless you signed one)
Rule 4 or a Liverpool Manager ... ( This is the one that hurts) Build up expectations, and then let them crumble week by week, make supporting Liverpool as fucking painful and frustrating as possible for the fans

kenny has played down expectations, to be fair.

Do you still think we'll get at least 4th, if not 3rd, Asbo?

In fairness if you thought before last night that we would, you still should today - unless you thought we'd go unbeaten for the rest of the season. What happened last night is what has been happening all season and why we won't finish 4th - unless our player suddenly develop the ability to finish overnight.

No Hal , my 1/2 full glass crashed to the floor and smashed last night, and I'm resigned to 6-8th place finish, its all well and good being dissapointed with only getting draws again City and United, and loving beating Chelsea away 2 games on the trot in League and cup, but when the players can't score a goal against the whipping boys of the Premiere League, you know you are in trouble ...

Who else could we have signed though? We're not in Landaaaan.*

*Do not respond to this, Neil, it was not posted with the intent of provoking discussion.

Kirsty Gallacher is still the fittest on SSN.

he just posted that and people haven't had a chance to respond.

kenny is caught between a rock and a hard place, he has invested a lot of money in his summer signings and they need to play if they are to improve in the long term but there are players who are maybe more deserving of their chance who may improve our results in the short term.

Fair enough.

I have outside hope, but I'm not expecting it. I don't think I've expected it all season, and would have regarded 4th as a great achievement this season.

Top 4 is a whole new ball game altogether these days. It used to be set in stone, with maybe the odd surprise package, ie Everton and Tottenham. Now, there are 6 teams all very capable of being in the top 4, as well as the threat of surprise packages.

I'm still hopeful and optimistic of our future in the next few years. We must remember where we were 12 months ago, as well as the football we are playing now compared to then.

I am starting to worry, however, that I'll never see us win the league.

The two things that give me a little bit of hope are the January transfer window and the fact that we've already played Spurs, Chavs, Gooners and Neverton away from home.

If we can bring in 1 or 2 quality players we'd still have a decent chance.

everyone can see we need better players but we've spent the last two seasons out of the CL, aren't located in the capital and don't pay the highest wages. we were having the exact same arguements in the summer and will probably have the same arguements in the coming summer.

we needed our summer signings to hit the ground running and unfortunately enrique and adam aside they haven't.

And the fact that if we win next weekend, we can potentially be 2 points of 4th again. Its very very tight between the 4 teams fighting for 4th spot. If we can adress our goalscoring troubles we have a very good chance, if not its a 6-8th finish. 12 times we've hit the woodwork, thats insane.

I can understand the fruastion, I just try to be a little more realistic with who we can bring in.

for instance this summer;
mata - went to a team in the CL
adebayor - went to a london based team (maybe not a factor but he is used to london having previously lived there)
aguero - went to a team in the CL (and big wages)

we need our scouting network to work harder to pick up quality players before they hit the big time because picking up obvious talent (i.e. hazard) is harder than ever.
do you think we have a chance of securing eden harzard this summer, if not, why not?

i was at the game last night, and again noticed a strange trend: i didn't really give a fuck when we lost. it just washed over me. and i haven't gven a fuck all season. i know one reason for sure is that i'm completely disillusioned with dalglish: the worst signings i've ever witnessed as a fan, and clearly taking us in the wrong direction. i hope he's not the manager next season.

but i think another reason is that i just can't get over the way rafa was treated. he should be in charge. i actively want him to come back ASAP. and i'm not sure i'll ever be bothered by a loss again until he's back - which i guess is ok by me.

shut up. FOR THE LOVE OF FUCKING GOD.

in the late 80's we had 3 top class performers in barnes, beardo and aldo. have we have attacking players performing to a high level (consistently creating and scoring) at the same time since?

90's - fowler, stan and macca
and then?
early 2000's - gerrard/owen
mid 2000's - gerrard/torres

Believe me, I tried but I just could not disagree with that post any more than I do. I have not disagreed with a post more in my life.

For all the disappointment of Fullham I at least enjoyed watching us play and some of the play was great. No cutting edge? True. But at least we played football. Under Rafa we didn't even get that - strangulation is, I'm told, one of the most painful ways to die. With Rafa we found it's also one of the worst ways to live as well.

Does it not say something that no other club in Spain, England or Italy have gone anywhere near him for nearly a year?

it's not even possible to disagree with most of that post!!! the only bit that's not fact is how bad the signings were and and whether he's taking us in the wrong direction.

I don't give a fuck, I'm fed up of reading unrealistic fucking BULLSHIT.
'oh we need to go out and buy players of the quality of suarez'

that's sooooo fucking easy, why didn't we do that YEARS ago.
I redily conceed we spent a ridiculous amount of money on downing and carroll but it annoys the fuck out of me when we look at the likes of aguero and drool because he cost the same as carroll, that doesn't take into account wages and other motivations for the move. it annoys the FUCK out me. and guess what, it's likely the same will happen this summer because we will be in direct competion with teams that can offer CL football and huge fuck off wages, but let's ignore that because we're LIVERPOOL and that's motivation enough for any player to join us.

I fucking hate that shit! end rant!

Just as a heads up Peter, I can disagree with anything I want to; I don't need anyones authorisation to do so.

I disagree with Kenny taking us in the wrong direction.

I disagree with not wanting Kenny here next season.

I disagree with wanting Rafa back.

I disagree with them being the worst signings you've ever seen as a fan - unless you're about 4.

I even disagree with your punctuation and your missing capital letters to begin a sentence.

You know what, I even disagree with your disagreements. 😱

Like I said, I could not disagree with that post more.

Aww Peter ( ok it wasn't you Peter who said it, whoever the fuck it was I can't tell ) he has us playing some lovely football, the signings haven't really clicked yet but we are only 13 games in, and the direction he is taking us is UP.

If we had won yesterday it would have been the 7th straight away win which would have equalled our Record as a Club which was last set by Manager Kenny Daglish in 1988.

FFS get a grip ...
