I think it's just a goalscorer we need, Fabio. I said in another thread about Bent. He's shit, and I feel dirty for suggesting him, but he scores goals. That's the only thing missing from our game, we create enough and defend well.
That said, I think the damage has been done, and unless the penny drops, we'll still squander chances.

Ryan will come on again and say "We won't get fourth" but that's just for hyperbolic effect. The reality is that we've got almost everyone we need for 4th; One signing is all that's needed. To get 4th that signing wouldn't even have to be all that fantastic - 12 goals in about 20 matches would see us do it comfortably. A young Michael Owen would be unbelievable but he doesn't have to be that good. We're not that far off as it is and we've missed more chances than any other team in the top 8. We'd be top 2 if we'd converted at the rate of most top 8 teams.
As I said many times previously, the one caveat is what Roman does in the next few weeks.
Also Hal, just remember; never argue with a fool - they just drag you down to their level then beat you with experience.
