A few reports of this strange tale - Forgive the link being The Mail which I despise. I'm not sure how much truth there is in it but thought I'd share anyway. There are direct quotes from him included as well.

Yaya Toure claims Manchester City did not grant him leave to stay with his sick brother

PUBLISHED: 11:04, 24 June 2014 | UPDATED: 14:05, 24 June 2014

Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has spoken of his sadness following the death of his brother Ibrahim and suggested that his club did not offer him sufficient support during a period which he describes as 'the hardest in my life.'
The Ivory Coast midfielder's 28-year-old brother tragically died of cancer last week, while Yaya was in Brazil representing his country at the World Cup and the City talisman has stated that he felt disappointed that he wasn't afforded greater sensitivity by his club employers.
The full squad were required for a post-season trip to Abu Dhabi, where City played a friendly game and met the club's owners.

Toure told France Football: 'At the end of the season, I wanted to stay for four or five days with my brother before I flew to prepare for the World Cup with Ivory Coast, except that City did not want to grant me a few days.
'I went to celebrate the title championship in Abu Dhabi while my brother was lying in his sickbed. By fortune, Kolo was at his bedside. After that I blame myself for not insisting and for not making them respect me.
'However, club officials knew very well that I was suffering for a few months as the health of my brother declined. This is the reason I had several injuries at the end of the season, because my head had taken control of my body. These last four months have probably been the hardest in my life.'

It sounds like the headline is a bit exaggerated TBH.

However, if Yaya feels City fucked him over, there's always a place for him at Anfield 🙂

I hope it is City being cunts rather than Yaya and his agent using a horrible situation. That would be so much worse.

What a load of bollocks ! If that were truly the case why is this the first time we have heard of it or he mention it ? Persecution complex or what.

his brother died only a couple of days ago - would have been strange for him to raise this issue whilst his brother was alive and the family struggling in private. in situations like this its best to give the benefit of the doubt. us lfc fans know all too well how the media and spin things.

I was referring to dying of cancer and not being allowed to go home ..... I assume he knew his brother had cancer and not long to live ?

I don't want to sound heartless - but I think Yaya Toure is acting an absolute cunt here.

Sorry - you're a highly paid superstar - how exactly did Man City "make" you go on an end of season party.

What person in the entire world would not side with you if you'd said a close family member was terminally ill and you'd rather spend time with them.

... and you have your agent release stories about respect, citing examples where other highly paid sports stars received expensive sports cars on their birthday????

Sorry... For someone to whinge about not getting cake or a sports car & then say, no it was because my brother was dying (after he died) - sorry - fucking bullshit.

I'm with StevieM - this smacks as manipulating a tragic situation into one to get him a larger paycheque somewhere else.

Great player but doesn't appear to have a limit to how low he will stoop to get a larger salary.

Uruguay are 1-0 up, in the dying minutes, fighting for their lives to hold on to the lead, in order to progress to the knockout stages of the world cup. I don't know about you or anyone else, but to me it seems very unlikely that Suarez, at that point, would be thinking about his club.

he's not talking about Luis.

I am a bit suspicious since City did give compassionate leave to Zabaleta, Tevez and Adebayor during the season. It seems a bit odd that they would not give it when the season was over.

Like I say, I hope it is City being cunts because the alternative is horrible.

It flashed up on Tapatalk that you quoted me. I stupidly assumed it was in one of the many Suarez threads [emoji23]

I don't think it's possible for City to be that much of a cunt - what did they do - bundle him on to the plane at gun point - threaten to dock him pay?

This.

Because I always had a soft spot for Yaya. I really hope he doesn't out to be a cunt. But I'm seriously having doubts now.

He is. He's a cunt.

Player of the Year bollocks, cake bollocks and now dead brother antics ... he's agitating for a move and stooping to every low level tactic in the book and some that aren't.

He's probably angry at himself for not going to see his brother, he fucked up, and is blaming the club.

People tend to lash out when they're upset, I don't think he's a cunt because of this. And if it's upset him enough to want him to move to us or away from England, then all the better.

I've been on a couple of Citheh forums and they're saying he took a jolly in Qatar before going to a pre world cup camp, meaning he had ample opportunity to see his brother.

Despicable if he's using his brothers death, his fucking brother, to agitate for a pay rise and a bigger birthday cake from PSG.

Yeah but you don't start accusing your employers with something like this in public though.
He's a cunt.
It's being said that he never asked for compassionate leave of absense.
And he could have simply not gone to the World Cup. Or the pre-World Cup camp. Or Quatar.
First it's racism in football stopping him from getting recognized like Messi. Then it's a birthday cake. Then it's about a bigger gift he should have had on his birthday. And now his dead brother.
All the while earning 250k per week.
My heart goes out to him.
