Regardless of how this has panned out and the dramatics over the negotiations, Xabi Alonso was certainly one of this websites favourite players.

Real Madrid got him cheap.

Ohyeah.

Bye,Xabi.

Thanks for letting millions of fans cry and beg you to stay for nothing.

Sigh.

Thanks for all your years of valuable service too.

So farewell Xabi Alonso
Central midfielder
Late of Liverpool
But now with Real Madrid.

You scored from the centre circle
Because that's where you liked to stay.
And passed the ball a long way.
Again from the centre circle.

You could have won it all with LFC.
But you chose to earn it all with Madrid.
You used to be our Xabi.
But now you seem a bit shabby.

EJ Thribb, 13 and a half.

My favourite player Rafael Benitez has bought. A truly gifted passer and dictator of a football pitch, as well as being a model professional.

Whoever we bring in, there will be times where will miss Xabi pulling the strings at the heart of our midfield.

Best of luck.

Im not sure im happy to offer platitudes and good graces to a player who-
We signed for top dollar.
Had 2 seasons of mediocre form.
Averages 2 goals a season.
Waited untill 2 weeks before the season began to hand in a transfer request.
Said he wanted it sorted for better (madrid) or for worse (us).
And mostly just a player who WANTS to leave my club. I find that staggering, and to a team we thrashed last year that has the greasy slimeball in it.
Oh and he's a ginger.
Yeah cheers Xabi, fuck you very much.

Hear hear!

He's a legend, who will be missed, on his day, he's one of the best in the world. I love him, I think he epitomises everything good about football, style, talent, skill and grace, a classy footballer and a classy person. He's handled himself very well through out this saga and throughout last years saga, never crying to the press about his desire for Madrid, which he could easily have done and which would have made his move to Madrid more likely to happen. He deserves a club better than Madrid, a club as classy as he is, I wish him all the success, although I honestly feel this is the wrong move for him, if he was going to Barcelona I'd be delighted for him, but Madrid? I'm not sure.

I think we've sold him at the best time, we're getting a great deal, so are Madrid, I hope they don't fuck him about.

All the best Chabby, you'll be missed, and you'll be loved, I'll always keep an eye out for you, you'll always be one of my favourites, I will always have a soft spot for both you and little luis, you both truely signalled the start of the "rafaloution" Until next time, I'll remember him by this, and remember my and many others favourite Alonso performance, 2005 against Tottenham.

Cheers Chabby, and don't worry, although she's finding it hard, Anita understands and will forgive you eventually.

I agree had a good first season and last season, everything inbetween was blah

The penalty in the champions league though, that was my best memory of him

In the end though it appears you prefer the tax and exhange rates back home, good luck to you

mascherano can fuck off aswell.
[/quote]Innit.

Terry Mac, Ray Kennedy, John Barnes, Graeme Souness, Jan Molby - these are midfield legends. I'm not that sure two good seasons and some stylish play qualifies someone as worthy of being considered in the same group as them.

Maybe branding the word Legend a bit too easily there, he's clearly not in that bracket.

Best of luck? For Real madrid? He can fuck off and enjoy an unfulfilled remainder of his career as far as I'm concerned.

Xabi, you epitomised everything I liked in a player, intellegent, skillfull, calm, considered, professional and so much more............
You were a leader in a team of leaders, your example an inspiration to others.
You were part of the spine of our team that was going to win the premiership for the nineteenth time, and then some more.
We can still see you in our minds eye, holding the European Cup aloft again, outdoing what you described as your greatest football memory when you were a winner in Istanbul.
For all of this we loved you.
You had a special place in our hearts reserved for few of your team mates.
So forgive us if we feel a bit bitter that this feeling is not requieted.
Please don't patronise us with your "it's not you it's me" statements.
You can shove your departing letter up your hole.
Maybe some day in the furure I will be able to look you in the eye without feeling the hurt.
But for now, fuck off to Madrid.
I hope you win nothing with your new found friends.
And I will take pleasure in your pain when we kick your sorry arse the next time we meet..
Fuck you Xabi,
fuck you.

I think it's easy to wish someone luck, without wishing luck to the club he's going to.

He's never struck me as a money grabber, I think he's just taking his chance to play for Madrid and alongside Kaka and Ronaldo. We have our own World Class players too, but this whole affair starting from last Summer has been a topsy turvy affair with blame spread fairly evenly between the Alonso camp, Madrid's and Rafa's.

He was one of my favourite players and I'll miss seeing his composure and his ability to play the ball from distance (while scoring the odd goal). Always struck me as a gent and a bit of a quiet man, and I think he'll be sorely missed.

So glass raised to Xabi, thanks for the memories and I hope you have your personal moments of brilliance to look back upon.

YNWA.

A very moving piece indeed.

Xabi will be missed. Obviously. I love him as a player and pissed off to have to watch him leave and also to see people play down his role to the team.

There is life after Xabi Alonso, It starts now.

Some fantastic goals, fantastic performances and punditry 😉

A Quality player and will be sorely missed on the pitch.

don't give us one of those crap letters on the official, either.

haha

Cheers for the memories Xabi. Was at Anfield when Stevie got sent off against Everton in 2006 and you were in a different league to everyone else on the pitch.

Hope you're watching when we lift the PL trophy in 2010.

On your knees, in tears, at the other end of the pitch.
