Fell asleep during the first half. Woke when the Dutch scored the equaliser.
Must have been a good second half.
My boy Giovanni scored, maybe he's just as good as Downing now.

The opening goal lit up the game and was what it sorely needed. Mexico need to take a share of the blame though; started to sit deeper after that inviting the Dutch at them, and with Robben in that team, it's always risky business. Anytime the world class diver gets into the box, his eyes light up as he sees the big flashing LED sign in his mind saying "DIVE!".

It is the worst Dutch team ever!

It is, I haven't seen such a frail Dutch team before. One injury to one of their key players can mess everything up for them. If Robben misses one game, they'll probably lose.

Penalty. Dammit, I wanted a shootout!

Ah well, 2 points in the predication league at least . (I had 1-0 to holland).

I'm glad I woke up, a 4-pointer for me !

Also pleased NL won. They were the better team even without Robben's dive. I want to see them vs Argentina a re-run of '78.

Does that say something about Van Gaal and the team he's built, or the level of talent in Holland presently?

He's top class manager. Not a miracle maker, but given time and money he can make you a contender.
I mentioned Van Gaal here before and got some negative responses.
Deep down I think people are afraid that he'll turn Man U into a good side again.

It isn't going to happen overnight but he is a top class manager and we will definitely improve compared to under Moyes. But will take at least this season and some money, which he appears to be getting.

Anyone who can take the dross in that Dutch team and get them winning has to be doing something right.

I wish the Americans still had no interest in football. They're much more irritating now that they think they're big fans. There was a family of 'em out today, whooping and groaning when anyone scored. 'Aw, poor Mexico, they were one zero ahead and now they're losing! Well done Netherlands!' Feck off!!!

I don't think anyone was disputing van Gaal's ability as a coach. The doubts were, and are, about his ability to start a fight in an empty room.

Come on the Greeks!

Although a selfish part of me doesn't want them to win as I don't want any celebrations to wake the child.
