I always thought it was Lefé but my sister said Lef at xmas in a way that sounded like she knew something, a bit pointed like. Right after I'd called it Lefé.

I say it more like you. Well I say Leffer which is more the Dutch way than Lefé. It could well be wrong.It is Belgian after all.

You were both correct, Leff in southern(French) Belgium, Leffay in northern(Flemish) Belgium
Edit: Actually I can't spell how the Flemish pronounce it, sometimes sounds like they end it with an 'r'.

Can't improve on this at all.
