Cody Gakpo on (agent) Virgil van Dijk:

"At the moment I was calling [in] with the coach, he came into the office of the coach and then he saw me and we chatted a little bit.
"We spoke a lot over the phone [in] the last days. What he told me was that this is the right move for me to make and for me to develop and to become a better player, that the club is a really big and massive club but also like a real family.
"I think that's also very important for me because I'm a family guy. He said only good things.
"I'm also happy that he's here, so he can help me with some stuff. I'm really grateful to be here."

Reminds me a bit of Deli Ali on his prime

There is another meme when he fluff his lines from the haters

Only if we had someone who spoke Georgian

Oh FFS Modo ! After I (and others) fucked it up last season by saying it was on I've been keeping schtum this.
Ooops...my bet is that it happens this season. Last season the bottom three were so bad no effort was needed by Everton to save themselves.

Has a nice energy about him - quiet inner confidence that allows him to be humble and open to ideas/ways to improve. Excellent English, of course - we’re taking it for granted now with Northern European players. He looks like someone who will very much fit the ethos of the club.

What I’m really looking forward to is Gakpo developing an on-pitch relationship with Darwin - Gakpo is potentially one of best crossers of the ball in the team alongside Trent and Darwin desperately needs someone who can put the ball on a plate for him. If they develop an understanding quickly it will help both players settle and increase in confidence. Gakpo seems like someone with enough intelligence and self-awareness to adjust his game to fit a specific tactical plan - and the plan needs to be: “feed Darwin!”

If Liverpool are to get the best out of their new £37m purchase, Jurgen Klopp must position the 23-year-old on the left of the attack, according to the ex-Ajax, Crystal Palace and Holland boss, De Boer.
“I think it’s important for him, he’s better when he starts on the left and comes inside," said De Boer. “I think Liverpool plays a little bit like that, I remember [Luis] Diaz playing there, who is also by the way an exceptional talent.

“So when he is fit he will have to fight for that spot. In the meanwhile, he [Gakpo] can grow in that role, I think Liverpool needs a player like that on that side at the moment. I think for me, this is the best choice he could have made at this moment.”
De Boer continued: "He will also get a little bit quicker and more physical, that will come in the years of playing in the Premier League, he will adapt quickly. I think he will only get better, and from my point of view, he made the right choice.”

Just watched this. I've got a really good feeling about this lad, and i'm usually pretty sharp.

He seems to have a great attitude, humble lad yet confident. Someone you'd love to have around as more than a team mate. Seems the reliable and trustworthy type. Also, he has that positive, can-do vibe which probably explains why LVG was raving about his adaptability and willingness to be played out of position.

I like him and i think he'll have a good relationship with the fans.

He was captain of PSV. That's always a good sign of a stable mentality.

I couldn't imagine Darwin being appointed the captain of his kindergarten team.
