Cody Gakpo will be eligible for the Premier League trip to Brentford next Monday. ⁣

However, having only returned to training at the end of last week after Holland’s Nederlands (you uncultured heathens) World Cup quarter-final exit to Argentina, the FA Cup third-round meeting with Wolverhampton Wanderers at Anfield on January 7 seems a more realistic option.⁣

Ha, I’ve worked on/off in the Netherlands over the years and seem to have to constantly remind people that they work in the Netherlands not bloody Holland! Technically when working in Ijmuiden we were in North Holland province but there are 11 other provinces. Oddly enough the Dutch Co-workers didnt seem to care much, they were so used to it, even in Utrecht it didn’t seem to bother them

Weird fact, the capital of North Holland is the totally gorgeous Haarlem and not Amsterdam.

Hopefully, he's in the same class as the others in this picture!

That's why I said a phlegm type sound. It's hard for us English speakers to say.

I'm currently working with some Dutch people, one is called Gert. I still can't get the sound right.
There's a scouseness to it haha I'm sure that's how Iearned

Yeah it used to be that even the national team called themselves 'Holland' before they woke up and changed it to Nederlands as it should have been !

It’s like many [English] people who confuse United Kingdom and England. The Welsh, Scots and Irish just casually dismiss them as idiots.

The boss told Liverpoolfc.com: “It really is great news for us that we have been able to do it and I have to say it has been a fantastic job by everyone involved, especially Julian [Ward].

“The work that has gone into this has been really impressive and in the end we have managed to sign a player who we have known about for quite some time and who we believe will have a really bright future with us.

“He was the captain of PSV, he was the Player of the Year in Holland last season and, as a lot of people have just seen, he also had a great World Cup with his national team.

“So, it is clear that he is already a really, really good player but his age also means he also has the potential to become even better.

“Offensively, he is very versatile and on top of this we know he is a smart footballer and also a smart person, so we are really excited to be able to work with him.”

It's interesting that he didn't take the available 10 shirt.... who's incoming that's bigger than Gakpo?
