Pato's agent claims Liverpool and three other clubs are after his services.

The figure being touted around is£7m, surely worth the gamble at that price.

It does seem like it is on paper, which begs the question... why is his agent having to whore him out in the press?

I can only assume he's asking for ridiculous wages. Otherwise the likes of West Ham or even Everton would take a punt at that price, for shirt sales & increasing the clubs image abroad as much as anything else.

£££ most definitely. The rumours started in Dec last year and he is not even close to being signed with the window fast closing. It was us at the start and Klopp came out to say he doesn't know anything about him. Then it was Chelsea, once again nothing happened. And now it is an attractive low price.

He should have gotten Aidy Ward as his agent. Being obnoxious sells better than being desperate.

Liverpool are battling for the signature of Monaco youngster Kylian Mbappe with Real Madrid. (L'Equipe)

Latest name linked to us now is N'Koudou (Marseille left winger, 20)

http://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/jan/24/premier-league-clubs-georges-kevin-nkoudou-scout

The 20-year-old, who moved to the Stade Vélodrome last summer from Nantes for £1m, has attracted attention for his performances this season despite his club struggling in mid-table in Ligue 1. N’Koudou has scored eight times and laid on four assists in all competitions, meaning he has contributed to more goals than any other player under the age of 21 in Europe’s top five leagues – ahead of the Manchester City and Barcelona target Leroy Sané of Schalke and Tottenham’s Dele Alli.

Born in Versailles, the France Under-21 international began his career at Paris Saint-Germain before joining Nantes in 2013. Marseille are understood to be reluctant to let him leave in January but are bracing themselves for offers in the summer, with a fee of around €20m expected to be enough to persuade them to sell.

West Ham and Tottenham also retain an interest in the striker Michy Batshuayi, who signed a lucrative new contract earlier this month. The Belgium striker laid on the assist for Marseille to take the lead against Lyon through the Newcastle loanee Rémy Cabella, meaning Batshuayi has now scored 12 times and set up four goals in Ligue 1 – half of Marseille’s total of 32.

Newcastle United are set to make another attempt to sign Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette this month, despite having already failed to persuade the player to leave midway through the season.
Reports in France claimed the player was not interested in joining Newcastle, but Telegraph Sport understands there have been some encouraging noises coming from the Lacazette camps in recent days and that he is now far more receptive to the idea of joining them.
Should that indeed be the case, it will be a spectacular transfer coup for the Magpies. Lacazette has been one of the most coveted frontmen in Europe over the last 18 months and his arrival would leave head coach Steve McClaren with no excuse if he was unable to steer the side out of relegation danger.
Lacazette has been Newcastle’s number one striker target for months, but they decided to look elsewhere when it appeared as though there was no chance of the player leaving Lyon in this window.
Lacazette told Telegraph Sport earlier this month that he wanted to play in the Premier League and would be ready to move in the summer. Newcastle, though, are working hard to try and bring that departure date forward.
Newcastle are willing to pay more than £20m to land the 24-year-old, as well as offer him a contract that would make him one of the highest earners at the club.
Lyon would prefer not to sell, but Newcastle are trying to be bold in the transfer market after Telegraph Sport revealed last week that they have cooled their interest in Andros Townsend and Saido Berahino.

Last year we all thought we had no chance of signing him because Arsenal, Real Madrid, P$G etc would out rank us.

Now, Newcastle are trying to sign him? Is he in the French team? I presume he won't move until after the Euros.

I think he's said he wont move until after the Euros. I highly doubt he'll end up at Newcastle but for a 25 mill fee we should definitely be interested.

I guess with Chelsea, Bayern, City, United all probably changing managers, and a few others with transfer bans hanging over them, and then a decent amount of teams overperforming (Leciester, West Ham, Spurs, Stoke, Palace), there's not enough teams with a reason to buy?

Or it will all go mental in the next few days...

Bet Sky and that over excitable knob Jim White hope so!

Yeah, I remember the last deadline day transfer special - or maybe the one before - was very amusing as almost nothing at all happened and Jim had to work himself into a frenzy over a light being on in a room at at a training ground, which signified something HUGE about to happen. Like some hoovering.

Yeah, maybe. I think it's usually clubs who need to make a desperate attempt to salvage their season that make the most signings. I might have made that up, though.

Tottenham have agreed a fee with Newcastle United for Andros Townsend believed to be around 12m pounds #NUFC #thfc #@BBCSport

He played for the Spurs under 21 side last night against Liverpool.
He really didn't stand out at all and on last night's evidence there are at least three or four Liverpool players who should be valued highly.
Amazing what a few wonder goals and an English cap does for your reputation though we are hardly innocent of buying into the hype when it comes to prospective targets 😉

I never understood his hype, truly average one dimensional player, Spurs have done great to get £12million for him.

Newcastle going mental with their money this window, spending 25mill on two english players that blow hot and cold at the best of times.

Probably getting crazy money, and given he's 28 end of career time n all that.

Will also seemingly feel like royalty out there!

But 28 should be his peak. One more big move, then he can go and play in a cash-rich footballing backwater when he's 32 or 33. He could have gone to another big club in a top European league if money wasn't his ONLY concern.
