Chelsea and Spurs are brilliant at getting clubs to pay loads for their players.

But now they're getting all salty about not getting sell-on clauses inserted in certain deals which looked good at the time (De Bruyne to Schalke, Lukaku to Everton) but both of those players now worth at least double what they sold for.

Spurs have long had a reputation under Levy for being very tough negotiators, but I'm not sure that many of their players have gone for ridiculous prices.

Newcastle going mental with their money this window, spending 25mill on two english players that blow hot and cold at the best of times.

It's desperation stuff by McClaren (a bit like Rodgers' purchase of Benteke unfortunately) and IMO it's touch and go whether it'll work. They've shown flashes of form recently but they're definitely still in the mix down there.

They're two good signings, for Newcastle anyway. They should have bought Charlie Austin too, especially at that price, because while I do like Mitrovic's aggression, he doesn't seem to score anywhere near enough goals.

I like Wijnaldum, Sissoko and Janmaat too. I'd be quite surprised if they went down, although there doesn't appear to be as many "dead certs" for relegation as there usually is, so I think it will be tight. If I was Norwich I'd be very concerned about that defence.

They're not without ability and could turn out to be two good signings, hence my not writing them off totally, but I'm not at all sure they're players I'd be looking at to help dig a club out of relegation trouble. And yes, there are good players there already - if they do go down we would do a lot worse than look at Wijnaldum ourselves - but I'd still question whether the whole is equal to the sum of the parts at that club.

Suarez wants to come home. It's in the METRO so you can't doubt its credibility.

Luis Suarez has revealed how he would be open to a Premier League return in the future but only to play for Liverpool.
The Barcelona forward, who has already scored an incredible 29 goals for the La Liga side so far this season, spent three-and-a-half years at Anfield before making his £75million move to the Camp Nou.
Despite the never ending biting and racism controversies, the 29-year-old striker will always hold a place in the heart of every Liverpool supporter and the feeling is very much mutual with the Uruguayan international.
‘You never know what will happen in the future in football, but if I returned to England it would only be to play for Liverpool and never for another team,’ Suarez said.
‘I miss the fans. The atmosphere is incredible, it’s incredible. Everyone who has played for Liverpool knows the most important thing is the fans. They know they are in my heart.’
Suarez is currently leading the goal charts in La Liga with 18 league goals, more than Benzema, Ronaldo, Neymar, Messi and Gareth Bale.

I think I'd cry

12 mill for Andros Townsend. Fucking hell, that Levy cunt knows how to sell a player.
125 shots attempted and 3 goals. Furry muff.

  1. Bild claims that #Klopp’s number one target for next season is Borussia Monchengladbach defensive midfielder Granit #Xhaka.

Just think about our likely line up in a years time once Klopp has had a couple of transfer windows to get his targets in and let go of some underperforming dross.

Mouthwatering stuff.

Yep. Factor in the improvement he should be able to bring about in the players we retain, and it looks promising all right.

Pato has landed in London, expected to complete a 6 month loan with view to permanent at the end of the season to Chelsea.

Good deal that, win/win situation for Chelsea. We should've been all over this.

The bloke will take 6 months to settle by which time he'll be back in Brazil. Definitely not win/win.

I hope you're right, but I'm concerned. Pato's injuries are behind him and he's here for financial reasons only - he's chasing Prem wages and his club need to get him off their wage bill. We could have done worse.
