I thought Kuyt combined well with Suarez and busted his gut.

His first touch deserts him most of the time but there are times when he does some stupendous things. He may be a limited player but he can't be faulted for always giving 100%.

He was by no means top drawer yesterday but he put in a shift.

That's precisely the attitude towards Kuyt that bugs me though - he can't be criticised, despite his first touch being awful, because he put in a shift. Any time he's in a bad spell of form (when he literally makes my eyes bleed) he still manages to escape censure whilst the regular whipping boys get it in the neck. He's more often than not the reason why our attacking play lacks pace and fluidity and we need better. At his age, if a decent offer comes in we'd be mad not to take it.

ps - I actually thought he has one of his better days yesterday.

Nobody is beyond criticism Buddha, all I'm saying is that he can't be faulted for putting in a shift.

If we have any serious ambitions of winning silverware, Kuyt, Lucas, Poulsen etc. should be squad players and not automatic starters.

Lucas and Kuyt find themselves in the starting XI precisely because we lack quality and depth on the squad.

Jesus christ. Everyone is being unbelievably negative.

If you expected us to win game after game after game with any injurys in our side, you are mental. It's like a message board full of amnesiacs. Ohhhh yea, that's right, our squad is really thin with a lot of shit players.

The crucial thing is our progress. Are we sticking to a recognizable style of football that will pay dividends with better players?

Fuck yes we are, it's miles ahead of what we were doing under Roy.

That's exactly right.

We are playing much better football under Kenny; and there's no question that a Roy team would have been playing rubbish, dsjointed *something* resembling football.

But I think a lot of the furustration has to be with a good number of posters on here thinking that we have a squad approaching the quality of Barcelona and that Kenny the magician will have no trouble turning it into world-beaters as opposed to Roy the dullard. Unfortunately Barcelona we aint; and with the squad we have now there are going to be more days like this one.
