Who will the Yanks hire to replace Rafa?

On a serious note, i'm still of the opinion Jose Mourinho and LFC are meant for each other.

He was a bit of a cunt towards us when he was at Chelsea but even then you could tell he had a healthy respect for LFC.

I'd probably prefer a joint Manager combo Evans/Houllier style of DreamBeliever & Le Chacal than having Mourinho manage us.

Roy Hodgeson has Fulham passing the ball around quite nicely, Neil. Would you take him?
oh god.
It isn't going to be anyone much better than Hodgeson, Skully.
We're not shopping in Harrods anymore.

MON.

Pellegrini would be high up my list too (I think I mentioned it in some other thread) but it's impossible to know if Real still want him at the present time. Also I don't think he speaks English, which whilst isn't enough to eliminate him from the running, it is certainly is a factor.

I'd consider *anyone* right now, I really would.

And Ross's point is right. I know I'd prefer someone who knew the English league to someone who had picked up a European trophy.

Anyone who wouldn't want Jose is an idiot.

Shut up facepalm.

He's en vogue right now alright. But then so was David O'Leary half a dozen years ago.

He's done well with Fulham, but let's not forget he made a fucking balls of Blackburn, and no Fulham fans wanted him in the first place.

no need to tell me. i think it's madness. none would be more heartbreaking than fucking SGE, though. just imagine it.

So the best option is going to be a driven young manager with something about him, rather than an old steady Eddie type.

I really like the idea of Laudrup. Hes a legend that played the beautiful game and surely that would command some respect and inspire the players.

Imagine if he moulded the team in his own image?...Imagine winning with reinstalled virtues and winning with class and style.

Football seems a dirty business to me these days, its like you have to join the dark side of the force to win anything. id like to blow all the cheating Drogbas and screaming Rooneys out of the water with style and relentless brilliance.

I honestly think id start self harming if we got some of these suggestions in.

I just wrote this in another thread, but it really doesn't seem like a bad idea, so. . .

Carra. Player/manager.

Its probably too soon for that but it wouldnt be a terrible idea.

Reading his autobiography you can tell hes a student of the game, and I think hes the best kind of scouser too, very quick witted not some scally idiot as some would have you think because of his thick accent.

He'd do very well if he could get the respect of the current side it would be hard to get the distance from his mates like Gerrard.

The main thing is to get someone who the players will instantly respect and want to play for. I don't think that'd be the case with Hodgson or McLeish, who are basically just this season's version of Curbishley and Strachan (both of whom were among the favourites last time).

If we can't get Mourinho or Capello, I would hope we'd be looking at the likes of Rijkaard, Blanc, or - at a push - Martin O'Neill. The former two because they were great players, the latter because he's got a strong personality, knows the PL inside out, and generally seems to inspire respect/devotion in his players.

If Pellegrini can't speak English, I think you'd have to rule him out. Sounds like a recipe for disaster to me.

I've mentioned Martinez in the past (so before monday night) as a real prospect. He did a fantastic job at Swansea on a shoestring and has now got Wigan playing an attractive game, looking likely to stay up, under the most stringent of financial conditions (they sold anyone of worth before he took over and gave him little money to replace). He's got an eye for a young player and seems committed to playing the game the right way. He also cuts an impressive, thoughtful figure in interviews. I wouldn't be averse to us taking a chance on him.

If not, Laudrup certainly ticks many boxes as does Blanc at Bordeaux.

If it's fantasy names we're going for I'd want Wenger with Mourinho and Rijkaard as alternatives.

The dream-constellation for me would probably be a Laudrup-type of manager with a Carragher-type of assistant by his side.

Actually Laudrup & Carra would do just fine.

PS I'm thrilled to see Mistadobalina (Mr. Bobdobalina) joining my Laudrup-bandwagon. It's awesome. There's room for more. Bunny your in too?

there's loads on the roy hodgsen boat. fucking loads.

Not really, people are suggesting that is who the owners might target as opposed to suggesting him as our next manager.

No.

Laudrup & Carra would be fine.

I think he's mostly enjoying life and playing golf. And he's an 'expert' in Schmeichel's Champions League studio but that's about it.

He trains kids at a Summer footballcamp too but not at Chelsea.

I'm sure Sami will be back at Anfield in some role too in the coming years.
See we're getting there.

Laudrup - Manager
Carragher - Assistant Manager
Sami - Defensive coach
Sammy Lee - Sammy Lee
Kenny Dalgliesh - Mentor

Add to the list KHL as chief scout.

I think he would just be happy being our Danish scout.
