Hopefully the septic's won't be in charge when the time comes to make this desicion.

Jose would be my first choice, but being realistic i'd opt for someone like Blanc.

Redknapp, MON, McLeish, Sven, Rijkaard, Hiddink and Hodgson can all fuck right off.
can you explain why you want some of the people listed to fuck right off?
I don't want any of them near our club Spidey.

What meaningful trophies have MON, Mcleish, Hodgson and Redknapp ever won in all the years they've been management?

Sven is just a slimy twat.

Rijkaard has found his level at Galatasaray and Hiddink has been living off of his achievements from many a year ago.

What trophies had Shankly, Paisley and Dalglish won as manager before they took over at LFC ?
Slifghtly erroneous given that there was less trophies to play for in those days, less European places to get, and less Managers managed overseas/less overseas managers managed here.

None of the above is in any way relevant to Paisley or Dalglish being made Liverpool manager.

Or indeed the previous point about "what have they won"?

So neither point is relevant for those two. Hurray everyone!

I don't.

I'm saying we shouldn't overlook the right person just because they don't fit some overblown criteria by using the example of the three best managers of this club having won absolutely nothing (in management) prior to taking over LFC.

It was a different time, yes but it doesn't mean that only someone who has won big trophies is capable of taking over now.

Barcelona certainly didn't use the criteria that Rafa4Pm is putting forward and look where it got them. A treble last year and apparently thus far they're statistically having the best season ever in their history in the league.

A good candidate is a good candidate regardless of whether he's won things previously.

But the examples of Dalglish and Paisley are without merit. They got the job (as did Evans and Fagan) because they were viewed as "next in line" in Anfield Boot Room terms. ie a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away.

Who, brendan?

Oh, and I agree with your above point too by the way. I haven't really countenanced a replacement for Rafa, but I wouldn't be immune to someone young and ambitious, etc etc...

There is no such thing as a safe bet in football management.

The criteria used for deciding upon Houllier's replacement was a proven track record of winning trophies, and European success. That reallynarrowed it down to Benitez or Mourinho, and either one would have been a massive coup for Parry.

If that criteria is exercised again when we sack Benitez, it doesn't really offer up that many more obvious or realistic candidates (especially when one considers the parlous and fractious nature of our ownership situation), so we very well may be taking what could be considered far more of a huge gamble with our next manager.

And yeah, I think I'd prefer us to find a Blanc, Pep, or Wenger, rather than fucking McCleish or Strachan or whatever.

Parry was quoted way back when as saying the main criteria was someone that could win the league. So in that regard it's another big fail for Rick.

its the only way he'll get a game

hahaha. seriously is there some rule which states we must have a manager? i would restructure the club and make benitez redundant so he only gets the statutory pay off.

then im sure we can get through the season without a manager. the captain can pick the team it's only five minutes work

As much as I want Rafa gone, some of the names being banded about in here are obscene. Get a grip people.
absolutely. as much as i'm ready for a change, some of these 'candidates' are just too depressing to contemplate. fucking mcleish for christ's sake. woy hodgson and SGE. absolute doom scenarios.

What do people think about Pelligrini?

He did a fantastic job at Villarreal and I reckon he'll win the league this year with Real. His team at Villarreal played great football.

The only thing I'm not sure about is how much of his success can be attributed to the set up at the club. I don't know Spanish football well enough to question whether we'd be seeing another Juande Ramos.

Either way, he'd probably be near the top of my list should Rafa go.

Pellegrini is a good shout. Madrid looked very very impressive against Sevilla in the weekend.

is he off in the summer?

i don't know much about him.
If he doesnt win the CL/ La Liga double, I am guessing he will be off.

I'd like an English/British Manager with a set of English/British coaches.

Otherwise we'll just get another 5 years of duff formations, a new mega-complex marking system that Stephen Hawking couldn't decipher, we'll continue to miss out on local/National talent, we'll fill the squad chocker full of average players from whichever Country the Manager comes from, they'll know fuck all about English footy or LFC despite assertions that they know everything and have always been a fan etc etc etc.

I want someone who knows the Prem inside out and has for years as this is the area where we are fundmentally lacking.

Unless it was Mourinho as he knows all this.

So, in conclusion, Maureen or buy British. And I think the chance of Maureen coming diminishes by the day.
