When 1 becomes 2

The only thing we can tempt him on are bigger wages, and the ability to develop him further as a player, with a new (arguably tougher) league and new manager. I hope that's enough.

He only moved to Dortmund from Moenchengladbach a few years back, he shouldn't be super attached to Dortmund or anything.

Plus - the way Dortmund operate is that they never hang on to their best players for that long. They don't pay the best wages and can't really consistently compete with Bayern. They tend to be a stepping stone (which in fairness was what we were for Suarez).

I'm not getting my hopes up, mind.

Then again, he did pick Dortmund over Bayern in that previous transfer, and is originally from Dortmund.

I think we have a decent shot though.

I'm not sure. The only reason I can think he'd come here for is money. That's it. Why leave otherwise? We can offer him the chance of being the star in a medium-term project surrounded by quality young players and a really exciting coach, playing in front of a brilliant crowd in a great stadium. He's got all that at Dortmund, only more so.

Playing in front of 80k fans every game must be some experience

Can someone ask Mark mc what he's heard before this builds up to the invitable let down?

On to the thread.

I disagree with the lack of need for a goal poacher. Now that we don't have Suarez scoring his out-of-bloody-nowhere goals we need a more predictable presence in the box. Unfortunately having a top class goal poacher would have been ideal with the amount of balls LS used to put into the box but that is what we are also trying to replace!

CF: Benzema - even a mention of his name has me excited - he would be awesome IMO.
Winger: Tough one to hypothesize seeing as this is what Markovic is but if there is scope for another then I'd want Remy knowing that he plays as a wide forward to an effective level.

The fact that he was prepared to move to Barca being a local Dortmund lad means that he is ready to step up. Now may be the right time to pitch a move for him.

So on Reus.... Haven't Dortmund already agreed the sale of Lewondowski to Bayern? If so, would they also sell Reus in the same window? Would would they bring in instead?

Calling all Bundesliga chaps!

Moving from Dortmund to us isn't really a step up though, at least not that much, despite our rose tinted glasses telling us otherwise.

Even more so when you consider he's local.

The enticement of the Premiership may be enough. Who knows, its still worth a punt.

They've already brought in Ciro Immobile from Torino and Adrian Ramos from Hertha BSC.

Oh they also picked up Ji Dong Won as a free transfer from Augsburg. That's the guy who played a little for Sunderland and was in the middle of the ineligible player episode last season.

There's a newpaper article! Unfortunately it's just a rumours article 🙁

Football transfer rumours: Romelu Lukaku and Marco Reus to Liverpool?

Replacing the irreplaceable is inherently impossible, but Brendan Rodgers sure ain’t going to die wondering. Armed with £75m from the sale of Luis Suárez to Barcelona, Rodgers has filled up the Liverpool team bus with cash, put a cannon on the roof and started firing the Benjamins at any club across Europe with young forwards of repute. Divock Origi and Lazar Markovic are finalising terms close to the Melwood training ground as we speak. Wilfried Bony is on the brink of a £19m move from Swansea City after successfully using the Welsh club as a stepping stone. And Liverpool are reportedly in advanced talks with Chelsea over a £26m deal for Romelu Lukaku. Everton will not be pleased.
Rodgers has also trained his sights on Marco Reus and is hoping a £45m bid will be enough to lift the Borussia Dortmund speedster from his double misery of missing out on Germany’s World Cup-winning campaign through injury and a dream move to Barcelona after the Catalans opted to sign Suárez instead. Arda Turan of Atlético Madrid is also on the radar of the Liverpool manager, who is so caught up in his newfound wealth he will risk further angering Ronald Koeman by returning to Southampton for Jay Rodriguez. Watch out for the handshake snub when Saints head to Anfield on the opening weekend.
Manchester United are close to finalising a £31.8m deal for Arturo Vidal after reaching agreement with Juventus over the multifunctional midfielder. Patrice Evra will head to Turin to help Bianconeri fans come to terms with their loss. The capture of the Chilean will come as great relief to Louis van Gaal, after Ángel di María became the latest player to reject United in favour of Champions League football. The Real Madrid forward is set to agree a £50m deal with Paris Saint-Germain.
Real Madrid have also agreed to let Sami Khedira join Arsenal, so confident are they in adding James Rodríguez and Toni Kroos to their ranks of brilliance. Khedira will signa four-year contract to join his bosom buddy Mesut Özil at the Emirates.
Chelsea have opened discussions with Didier Drogba about a fairytale return to Stamford Bridge. The 36-year-old Ivorian will be offered a coaching role while he sees out his playing days. Ki Sung-yueng will become the latest player to join Aston Villa if Paul Lambert can finalise a deal with Swansea. And Tottenham’s summer spending plans have been dealt a blow after Gylfi Sigurdsson and Michael Dawson turned their noses up at moves to Crystal Palace and Hull City respectively. Mauricio Pochettino has apparently been told he must sell before he buys as he suffers the consequences of Tottenham’s £100m scattergun splurge a year ago. Be warned Brendan!

P.s Lukaku can fuck off, I just want Marco.

They try to keep their players but in the end they get their heads turned by Bayern Munich especially.

In Lewandowski's case for example they held onto him and didn't sell him last year. So this year he went there on a free transfer.

And I dont't really think that moving to Liverpool is much of an improvement for a Dortmund player these days.

Lewandowski has already moved to Bayern.

Nice ! From that article above :

Gylfi is a twat for going there in the 1st place. He chose Spurs over us after having worked with BR? Fuck 'em. Hope he gets farmed out to Hull.
