When 1 becomes 2

Luis was worth 2 players on the pitch with the harrying and chasing back and general dogged determination he showed, the fact that he was scary to opponents and shat goals also will be sorely missed. Whomever we buy even if it is 2 class players I strongly doubt we will be able to replace Luis on the pitch directly, that's the problem with selling the 3rd best player in the world.

Well let's be clear here there are plenty of players that can harry, chase back and show the determination that he showed. He is far from alone in that respect, even in our our team. So we don't need two players to do that.

And I don't know how many times this has to be said but we can replace his contribution. His moments of brilliance made goals both for others and for himself but a tighter defence, better players all over the pitch, and on the bench, and more goals all around can see us match or improve on last season simply by virtue of being a better team. I loved Suarez and was a big supporter, but his near deification on this board is getting out of control.

Real don't fall apart when Ronaldo isn't playing, neither do Barca when Messi isn't and yes they have top players to come in and cover for them but then they are operating at a higher level than we currently are. The transfers this Summer should heal many weaknesses within the squad as well as the team and I expect us to move forward, if we don't take it to the next level this coming season then it will be the following season, as our top young players start to reach maturity.

To be very honest I am not depressed at Suarez leaving, I was, but not now. Now I can't wait to see (taking some liberties here) ; Lovren, New LB, Lallana, Markovic, New Striker, Can and possibly A.N. Other, in action this coming season, I really can't wait for the CL draw and I'm excited to see how we come out of the blocks those first 6-8 games of the season.

I'm actually not even as excited about watching the new players, as watching how Sturridge, Sterling and Coutinho respond to Suarez's absence. I'm eager to see them step up, fill the void, and hit the next level. Oh and Ibe to come in for some appearances here and there and show he's the next Sterling. Drool time!

I think Lucas Moura is a good shout. He's obviously going to get even less time once Di Maria signs for PSG and could be a Coutinho/Studge like signing. Shouldn't be more than 20 million ...

As for striker - I think we should save some of the $$$ and spend under 10 to get Llorente. He's only 29 I think, built like a tank, good with the ball, works hard for the team and will score goals in our system. We can look for the next Luis, or Studge, over the coming 6-12 months. We cannot waste this money ....
I think he will cost alot more than £20m, but I do think he could be worth £100m in two years. He is very much still a rough diamond.

Sterling will be the one to step up for Suarez imo, he's the one who is capable of everything Suarez was. Coutinho is interesting, he has a lot to give but is inconsistent about giving it.

A bit like Ronaldo and some of the other examples of big players leaving their club we might already have the replacements within our squad.

Put your sweating, throbbing balls on ice lads until the echo report it

I'd much prefer Griezmann as he's younger, quicker and less likely to look at Ayre and immediately realise something isn't quite right.

@Kike_Marin_: Speaking of Reus. Arsenal had the chance but it now seems LFC are the ones who could be offering BVB €45m for him."

I don't think Reus is that unrealistic of a target. Dortmund have been shown to be willing to sell their players at the right price without any drama. Potentially injured, which reduces value some. Dortmund players tend to have realistic release clauses(Kagawa 16M Euros, Gotze 37M Euros, Sahin 10M Euros).

If we stump up 35-45M, I don't see why he's any less realistic than Higuain, Cavani, or Benzema. More realistic, even.

The only thing we can tempt him on are bigger wages, and the ability to develop him further as a player, with a new (arguably tougher) league and new manager. I hope that's enough.
