We love you Brendan we do...

The best way we can look at it is that he did alot of questionable stuff in the beginning and we couldn't really see where he was going, he's learned alot and adapted his thinking, which is crucial when we harp back the stubborn nature of Houllier and Rafa who wouldn't be budged an ounce on their tactical tendencies and personal favourites.

As said, we can only hope that (a lack of) money played a part in identifying some of these lads. If we look at how Allen has come on a bit more and we have the likes of Sakho to come in, it hopefully bodes well in the longer term.

Rafa bought Torres then stubbornly stuck it out at times with N'Gog to prove a point, Rodgers bought Aspas as what we can only assume was an emergency option with one eye on getting the best of his recent form as a stop gap for a season or so. When he realised he wasn't cut for the league he stopped persevering, took him out the firing line and didn't try to score points with anyone. Same with Sterling too (I know he didn't sign him!), when he was hitting a wall he took him out the side and made him get his head down and his confidence back.

Few managers are infallible, Jose and Fergie have both made some horrendous signings, for big money too. The crux of it is what you do with the tools you have and how you shape the squad as a whole and have it become the sum of it's parts. He's more or less shaped this season what he put together last year.

Hopefully players like Suso and Sakho help reinforce that next season and we can continue with this level of cohesion and understanding. It's what's served us well and is exactly the opposite of what's destroyed Spurs' campaign.

There are some question marks surrounding some of his signings but we should also acknowledge the progress he's made with those who weren't his signings. For instance, Sterling, Henderson, Flanno and to a lesser extent Teixeira.
We've got some decent players coming up from the reserves and I believe he's right man to help them develop.

We've got some amazing talent coming through the youth ranks and Rodgers is the perfect manager to help them develop into first team players imho.

I remember my first thoughts of him, I was delighted we had a Northern Irish manager and desperate for him to do well but then extremely wary of how he was coming across (especially the management speak he was using) and slightly annoyed with him regularly saying he was still learning. I do think he was being honest and might still have a lot to learn especially next season if he's taking the team into Europe but he's come a long way already in a short time.

In stressful scenarios or jobs there are always people who don't let the pressure get to them and thrive off it and others who struggle with it and really suffer when times are bad. Brendan looks like like he was made for this job at the moment, he's showing no signs of cracking and actually looks like he's taking pleasure from it.

It's a funny situ to be in. A few years back I was thinking about how massive an ask it is to bring in a manager who will have a high percentage track record with transfers, to get us back on top. Now it seems more like we can kind of worry about that less, because of what he's shaping the side into.

Of course it's in no small part to the talent we have with the addition of Coutinho and Sturridge, but still, he's doing well enough with a few players who were already at the club. So with a few ready to come of age, it's an interesting appointment we have. We're capitalising on past managers good signings by using the capabilities of a good man-manager to bring out the best in them. It's early days but it's looking like a nice scenario.

I just read that he is the FOURTH longest serving manager in the Premiere League.

Amazing what a bit of stability brings lol.

Well he certainly changed the game in the second half putting the extra deeper man in let us completely control the game.
