The longer we go without scoring the more confidence the oppo gets, obviously, so once we start scoring regularly we'll stay on top of teams for the majority of the game. When we're playing with confidence our football is fantastic to watch. Those goals are literally all we need IMO.

We've missed another opportunity for sure, but we have two nice home games now and we can keep ourselves up or around the top 4 with a couple of wins.
We are only 2 points off fourth btw. There seems to be some massive defeatism around given that we could have gone 4th today.

We are unbeaten at home and have lost less than every team bar the top 2. We have the best defence in the league.
YES we arent taking our chances enough. YES we lack cutting edge.
But its January in about 8 days. Maybe we have an ace in the hole.

Me too. We played really well for large parts of the game. We dominated another away game, and yes, we failed to take our chances, but it is not as if that was a crap game, or that we played crap.

We've improved loads, and of course we need to score many more goals. But a good team isn't built overnight and last year we were going to places like Wigan and looking second best.

Thought our support was absolutely magnificent tonight too.

It seems to me that Dirk, Downing and a few other players are lacking confidence. Maybe they're just not good enough, maybe it's a bad patch, but we really need them to step up to the level they're capable of.

Pity for Adam ... that peno goes in, we win and are feeling far better tonight. Suarez should have really taken it.

Admire the optimism guys, but there's not a cat in hells chance we're finishing 4th. Be surprised if we finished 5th, That's between Arsenal & Chelsea imo.

We're just not capable of going on a winning run.

Oh and did we fuck dominate. First 20 we did, but aside from that we blew hot and cold and you couldn't honestly say we had them on the ropes.
- Plenty of possession but little by way of penetrating passes and chances in the final third. Really disappointing...Once again.
 
no way did we dominate. we were in control for the first 20 minutes an then after that the centre of midfield was practically AWOL both in a defensive and attacking threat. yeah, I know I advocate that the fullbacks carry an attacking threat both ffs 'some' attacking threat should come through the middle of the park.

So let me tell you why I am feeling blue right now.

We were a team capable of finishing 6th. We then spent a 100 mil and are now a team sitting 6th, And we need an ace in the hole of a transfer to have a good chance of finishing 4th. And we will do our business late in the window anyway. I can still see the light but I'd rather have a little mope right now due to the circumstances.

35m wasted on a striker our manager doesnt trust. 16m on a winger our manager trusts for no reason.

And Before we beat Chelsea, Arsenal, QPR, Villa etc.
We have those players and there isnt anything we can do about it now. We have to hope that there is a striker on the cards for January, because we need one. But there is no point being angry about that which has already come to pass.

I'm convinced we wont get any new signing in jan. the yanks will say (fairly) that we were given 100m in the last two transfer windows.
 
Central midfield was poor tonight, especially Adam. Lost count of the number of times they broke through our middle. Our passing game fell apart in the second half too. To be honest I thought it was our worst performance in quite a while. Maybe the week's events had something to do with it.

Regards dominance, against the third bottom team, our best players were probable Skrtel, Enrique, and Reina.

I'm probably one of the more hopeful people around. I definitely still think 4th is possible. But there is a lot to be distraught about. Kenny's tactical ability is lacking also. I won't get upset every time we lose or draw but to a shit team who cant keep a clean sheet and cant score hurts. Also we don't have squad depth like we thought we did. Suarez, Maxi, Bellamy, Shelvey, Henderson, Adam and the defense. Not a lot to go on, 6 guys for 6 positions.

You know nothing of FSG, they'll spend to win. They once spent 52 million just to talk to a 28 year old Japanese pitcher. 100mil is chump change when a lot of that was recovered.

Adam was atrocious. Been singing his praises all season, but he had a stinker from start to finish. Missed the pen, gave the ball away constantly, and barely fucking moved all game.

Lets hope it was a one off.

I was taking the piss Neil. According to the doom mongers we might aswell be listening to farts. It was always going to be a struggle even after the American saviours and the return of the king. In all honesty we could be looking at a ten year plan as apposed to a five year one.
 
So downing, Henderson, & Adam were shit. Suarez was neutered at best.

Yet we still had the better chances & their keeper was motm. That's how fucking good we are.

Four players nowhere near their best & yet we got a point & dominated for maybe an hour in total.
