id like to see 433 again, that diamond kind of nullifies our attack a little bit, well, when we dont score loads in it i mean
Yes scoring 3-0, 3-0, 6-3 and 2-1 definitely isn't an attack with lots of goals since used this formation

I can see why some want Sterling in at coutinhos expense however dropping a player who has struggled to find his best form all season after a mom display sounds very strange to me.

Also resting Gerrard in place of the rusty Lucas would be crazy.

Gerrard has been superb for weeks now.

Liverpool's Steven Gerrard backed to make title dream come true by Kop heroes Carragher and Fowler
Mar 27, 2014 20:03 By David Maddock
One Anfield old boy says Reds "fear no one" and the other fancies their chances if they take four points from the visits of Chelsea and Man City

Sweet 16: After 15 seasons of falling short, Gerrard can smell the title again
Steven Gerrard had resigned himself to never fulfilling his dream of hoisting the Premier League trophy aloft for Liverpool.

And according to two of the people who know him best, the fact he has now been presented with such an unexpected title opportunity in his 16th season explains why he is clearly so driven.

Bar the one he most desperately wants, the midfielder has won every major club trophy for the Reds, inspiring them magnificently to the Champions League in 2005 and FA Cup in 2006, as well as the League Cup and UEFA Cup.

He has also scored in the final of each of those competitions - a remarkable record unmatched by any other Liverpool player.

Yet the league championship remained resolutely beyond, him, with Liverpool slipping further and further behind the big-money clubs hogging the summit of the English game.

Until now...

And as the chance - perhaps his final one, as his 34th birthday approaches in May - gets closer and closer to becoming reality, then Gerrard is clearly relishing the opportunity, and inspired by it.

"Stevie is the leader in this Liverpool team, you can see it in every game. He knows they have a great chance for the title now, and he probably thought that had gone," said another Kop idol, former striker Robbie Fowler.

"So he's going to give everything possible to get it, of course he is. He'll give every last drop of energy, every last breath on the pitch to try and make it happen."

Jamie Carragher played alongside Gerrard for his entire career at Anfield, and probably knows the Reds' skipper as well as anyone.

And he too, can see not only how much it means to the midfielder, but also how much he is trying to lead his team-mates on this quest for the holy grail.

There were moments at Anfield on Wednesday night where the anxiety of the home support made it quiet enough to hear conversations on the pitch, and the one voice above all others was that of Gerrard, cajoling and encouraging his team-mates to do their job properly.

Now a Sky Sports pundit, Carragher pointed out the influence of his friend after the Sunderland game:

"You could see Steven berating Skrtel and Agger after the O'Shea chance because they had to deal with it - he was making sure they knew they had to do the job properly.

"They've had the first goal, but Skrtel just lets O'Shea walk in there. Liverpool know this is a great opportunity - a chance this strong may not come around for a while, so Stevie will not let it go easily."

Much has been made of Manchester United's lack of leadership on the pitch. The same has been said of Arsenal, too.

But Gerrard has stepped up to the the plate in incredible style in recent games as a true leader, not only with his deeds but with his words too - against Sunderland he spent the whole game talking to each of his team-mates, reminding them of their role.

A run of seven successive wins and no defeats in 12 Premier League matches in 2014 have put Liverpool right in the title mix.

And according to Fowler, the next few games will allow the skipper to show his comic-book hero qualities spectacularly.

"In the past, Stevie has inspired Liverpool in massive games like the Champions League Final," he explained. "But you can't lift a team singled handedly over a whole season.

"Now though, it isn't a whole season - they are just a few games away and in with a truly fantastic chance. So he'll know they can do it, especially with the firepower they've got. And he'll know he can lead them, inspire them. Maybe in two or three games, he can win the title for Liverpool.

"You saw what he did against Sunderland, and what he did against United before that. He's man of the match every time now, but it's still others like Suarez and Sturridge who get the headlines.

History boys: Gerrard and Carragher lift the European Cup in Istanbul
"He still hasn't had as much credit as he deserves, because believe me, he's the true leader out there."

Can he really do it though?

Fowler thinks so, and not because of his obvious Liverpool bias.

"Look, they've got a terrific little team, haven't they? They fear no one, they feel as though they can get at anyone, and they haven't lost a league game in 2014.

"And they've got Steven Gerrard with a chance he never thought he'd get. So why wouldn't they think they could do it?"

Carragher believes so too.

"You know what, if they don't win the title now, people outside the club wouldn't see that as a big deal, but I reckon they will inside, definitely.

"They know what a chance it is now, and I am certain they can do it. I honestly don't think you can pick a favourite between them, City and Chelsea.

"Liverpool still have the other two to play at Anfield and if they could get six points from those matches I think they would win the Premier League - if they got four, I would still lean towards them."

I hate this shit. We're third favorites and shouldn't be encouraging this kind of shit. If we'd held city and Chelsea to draws away - as we deserved - then I could believe. But not now, and this sort of crap is just going to make it so much harder to take when we lose, probably against Chelsea or City.

Here's the original post: -

Ok before you start knee jerking from the title, read what i put.

I am fed of Spurs fans on twitter saying we have been just as good as Liverpool and just unlucky blah blah blah.

NO

We have been outclassed by Liverpool this season, but stop jumping the gun and thinking that I am saying, Liverpool are the better team with the better players.

Liverpool have outclassed us on the pitch as a team, they are 9 points ahead with the game in hand for god sake. Our squads are very similar when it comes too head to head, but they have been superb this year and shown us up. Don't go by saying well they lost too Southampton 1-0 and lost to Hull 3-1. Well haven't we lost to minnows this year? Haven't Man City lost to Minnows this year? Yes. So I'm not taking that as reason.

Lets just face THIS season, Liverpool have been brilliant and won games comfortably since the beginning of the season. We have a 0 goal difference, Liverpool have 44. 44 more goals of class this year.

I hope these bin dippers go on to steel Chelsea and Arsenal to 2nd, would even prefer them to win the League over the other 3.

Just my opinion.

It's just littered with grammar and spelling mistakes. Tsk.

Based on the forums I've seen over the years, Spurs fans really are as deluded and arrogant as people say. Virtually every other club's forums make you warm to their fans just a little bit, as it's reinforced that most are just like anyone else, just an average sampling of society. Spurs seems to be the exception. They really live up to the stereotype.

I hope we fucking smash them on Sunday.

Can't see us losing this one... I think the harder ones to predict are Palace and Newcastle.
We will beat a Spurs on Sunday no problem.

Dont get me started on Spurs fans, or Red Astaire for that matter.

Basically Sherwood just shouts at them and makes them go out and kick it about a bit. He's like that other gobshite Stuart Pearce. It will be a tough game as they have some very decent players and they will be smarting from the 5-0 home stuffing we gave them. Hopefully we'll lift ourselves and smash the shit out of them.

Sounds good to me.

Reading through those forums theirs actually one or two level headed ones, fair play.

I think our home games are gonna be more nervous affairs than away myself.

Firstly most teams will try not to lose, whereas on their own ground they'll have to come out a bit.

Secondly, as good as the pre match support is, that's 90 minutes before the match starts. The players can't help but get a buzz from that, adrenaline kicks in & then kick off isn't for 90 full minutes, sadly it's probably the worst thing that can happen to the players at that time, you want that adrenaline rush 5 minutes before kick off, not a peak, long decline whilst they're meant to be concentrating on tactics & relaxing & then another peak at kick off. Could explain the nervous start & slightly lacklustre half on Wednesday, esp when in combination with playing twice in 4 days for the first time in ages.

Thats why I think the fact that we've only got better teams left at Anfield this season is a bit of a blessing in disguise, they aren't going to settle for just a point.

I'm concerned by the threat from Adebayor - I do wonder whether a Sakho introduction would be helpful? I think sterling in for allen would be useful as I think he could provide a lot more protection down the left.

If Adebayor doesn't start I will be very relieved. He is the type of striker we struggle against - one who stays in the box and hassles our CBs. We seem a lot more capable of dealing with strikers who like the roam and get into the channels that those who are the 'fox in the box'.

Didn't want to clash with the tickets thread.

Anyway, back to three upfront maybe:

----------------Mignolet-----------------
Johnson--Skrtel--Agger--Flanagan
-----------------Gerrard----------------
----Henderson---------Coutinho-----
-Sterling------Sturridge-----Suarez-

^^^^This is the team to start. We're at Fortress Anfield and should go for the goals. Lucas or Allen can both come in as late substitutes to shore up the midfield. Coutinho and Sterling must both start. We will hurt Spurs with Cou10's vision and Ster31's pace.

Are they new forum members?

Sterling for Coutinho - we'll murder them if they okay a high line.

I'd be tempted to put Suarez through the middle, Sturridge on the left & Sterling on the right & let them occupy their FB's.

Gerrard pinging diagonal balls in behind & Henderson/Allen hunting just in front of Gerrard.
