Spurs pre-match thread

What the fuck is Merson going on about? How on earth did we show signs of cracking under pressure on Wednesday?

I didn't read the article but Wednesday was a bit of a nervous night. Perhaps the players weren't but the fans were and you could sense it.

Brendan, Mignolet, Jones, Johnson, Enrique, Touré, Agger, Sakho, Cissokho
Flanno, Skrts, Kelly, Coates, Gerrard, Lucas, Hendo, Allen, Alberto
Coutinho, Sterling, Ibe, Suarez, Aspas, Moses, Sturridge, Yesil, Sinclair
Allen = Kewell

Mignolet

Johnson
Agger
Skrtel
Flano

Gerrard
Hendo
Coutinho

Sterling
Suarez
Sturridge

Although I feel Rodgers will play Allen instead of either Coutinho or Sterling.

One thing is key tho, if we give Spurs the space infront of our back 4 as we did against Sunderland second half, they will punish us.

i'd forgotten moses was even in our squad until i saw that pic . I'm guessing he'll be bombed back to chelsea in the summer or ?

Didn't want to clash with the tickets thread.

Anyway, back to three upfront maybe:

----------------Mignolet-----------------
Johnson--Skrtel--Agger--Flanagan
-----------------Gerrard----------------
----Henderson---------Coutinho-----
-Sterling------Sturridge-----Suarez-

I'd go with this....Sterling has to start. His pace and SaS pace will surely rape Spurs defense.

3-1 win.

One poster said that the only difference between us and Spurs was Bale vs Suarez .... another poster answered :

Suarez missed the opening 6 games, Sturridge missed 10 games due to injury, Agger was injured for a while, Gerrard missed a month, Coutinho missed 6-8 weeks, Sterling wasn't ready till december, Enrique has been out since November times and Sakho has been out since early January. They haven't had a settled back four for a long time, they are just clearly better then us in every department. Are we going to catch them up next season? Well they might have Europe next season, but we will also have Europe, the difference is, we play on Thursday and they play on Tuesday/Wednesday.

This summer, they will invest heavily in there club, I can't see us spending heavily. They will build on a already better xi then us. The future looks bright for Liverpool, young manager, great english core, young team, with a few world class players. Do they over rely on Suarez? Not really they have scored 82 goals, scored by many players. They have many players that can cause a lot of damage. Let's just say Suarez does leave, then I'm sure people will say they over rely on Sturridge, but I'm sure Suarez isn't leaving anyway.

If you asked me who I want to win the league bar us, I would go for Liverpool. If they do win the league though, I have a feeling that the sleeping giants will finally awaken.

The only difference between us isn't just Bale and Suarez? Did we have another striker who was scoring 20 goals plus? Did we have another midfielder scoring 10 goals and making 10 assists? Did we have a winger getting 6 goals and 5 odd assists? Did we have a Coutinho linking up all the play? They are much better then us this season, then we were last season.

The difference between the Dippers and us? Go check the Goal Difference.

No doubt there were nerves, but he's implying that we fell apart, when we didn't in the slightest.

Makes you wonder if these people live in the real World. They seem to forget that Chelsea and City haven't battered every team to reach the top of the pack. In fact, haven't Chelsea fucked up against Sunderland this season? OH.

Other fans talking about us not having any league winners in our team.
We've got Johnson, Touré and Sturridge, right?

Although it's factually incorrect, I think the general gist of not having title winning experience in the team is probably true.

Toure doesn't really feature these days, so he's not worth mentioning and neither Johnson nor Sturridge were players Chelsea counted on when they won the title there so it's probably a very different experience for them now.

Touré can act as our cheer leader.
