I'm loathed to get into a royal old arguement with anyone on here over something so divisive, everyone has their feelings on the Queen and the Royals with varying degrees of respect and some people do want to grant her that respect, others don't. But can we tone down the levels of abuse etc?

Ta guys x

I'm not a royalist by any stretch. But I will be respectful. She did a lot of public duties throughout her life, and brought a lot of money into the UK via tourism.

Charles will not have the same draw from the wider world.

I never get quite get the tourism angle? Tourists don't get to meet the Queen or go to Buckingham Palace. I don't really understand how she or the royal family are a draw? I've been to London numerous times, but the reasons generally being sporting occasions, concerts/plays, visiting friends or just going to "see the sites". London is a 'world city'. That's far bigger a draw than the fucking Queen

This is absolutely fucking disgusting. Whilst I realise many on here are complete anti-Royalists, this is a lady that has dedicated her life in service to the UK since she was 21 yrs old. Forget her offspring, this woman demands respect and thankfully the world is granting that respect even if you're not.

Dedicated her life in service...or lived a life of absolute luxury, prancing around in a fucking crown, while millions of her "subjects" are poor.

Any tourism the queen brings in is solely for London's benefit.

Arsed about her

More tourists visit France. What did they do to royalty?

Then you havent been paying attention. Just go to any royal residences and listen to the accents.

Some will have come over for another reason and happened to go there. But outside Buckingham Palace, 99% of tourists will have gone there because they like/interested in the monarchy.

For the record, you can go to Buckingham Palace at certain times of the year, and I believe I read a while ago that Charles will expand that further when he became King.

Can we try and stick with football?

I need a sanctuary away from all the Royal bollocks we're going to have to ensure over the next fortnight. Thank fuck for Netflix/Amazon Prime, etc.

We all know the weekends games gonna be postponed so can we just delete thread and move everything Queen/Tourist/Nonce related over to the General section?

I know it seems dire, but in Klopp's time, we've always responded well to being thrashed.

2017, losing 5-0 to City and 4-1 at Spurs, we went on to make the CL final.

2020, thumped 7-2 by Villa in October, we went top by Christmas (yes, I remember the shitshow after January).

Here's hoping we turn things around.

If we keep our better players fit, we can easily turn this around. We’ve just had possibly the toughest tie of the group so it’ll only get easier. We were hugely better second half when our better players came back into the team. Bodes well.

Not to mention keeping stolen diamonds.
There's good and bad in everyone, some forgivable (I get doing everything to protect your own children) and some not (allowing others in the family to treat Diana like shit)

But like you say despite what you think of the Royals, a women that's spent 70 years in her position deserves respect...I do believe she was a polite warm hearted but was also easily led astray due to ageing which made her become more vulnerable.

Yea talk sport were saying the government guidance is to not have any sporting events but it’s up to the sports themselves to decide.

It’s off imo, boring weekend incoming

It’ll be played a minutes silence. No way they can squeeze it in otherwise. There’s 3 free midweek slots but they need to be saved in case of bad weather.

I'd say Buckingham Palace is probably THE big draw when it comes to tourism in London. People obviously don't get to go inside the palace, but the parade and surrounding gardens are permanently full of tourists. They have a huge impact on tourism.

Yeah people take photos there. I walked past it when I was nearby out of weird fascination (and i think the existence of any monarchy is ridiculous in this century). It was nowhere near a primary reason to go to London. If you did a survey it would not be the top reason to visit London for many. People might as well see it while in London but it's not the reason to go for most.

Don't you dare say that in in King Mswati III's presence ...
