Spurs pre-match thread

Tim Sherwood is still new to the media side of football management and it shows. His comment that he saw signs in the slightly less than comfortable 2-1 win over Sunderland in midweek that Liverpool might be feeling the pressure of their new billing as title contenders was the equivalent of a boxer leading with his chin. Brendan Rodgers hit the target sweetly with a curt reply. "I don't think we are under pressure," the Liverpool manager said. "Probably not as much as a team that spent £100m and must have been hoping to challenge for the league this season."

This definitely has '05 Champions League nerves attached to it...Excluding all the other games (I know), it feels like this is the quarters, with Chelsea waiting for us in the Semis and then City in the final..

Nah mate, Spurs are shit. They are like the team from Romania that has made its first ever champions league appearance and everyone trounces them in the group stage.

I think they're more like that Portugese team who everyone thought would be better, have kinda scraped through the qualifying stages despite taking a couple of tonkings, and remain a bit of a danger over one game of 90 mins..

Well, I'm not making any assumptions. Sometimes a team cobbled together in the wake of injuries plays with a freedom that produces good football.

That said, it shouldn't matter either way. If we do ourselves justice, we win this game. It's up to us, period.

I could give a shit who starts for them - LET SMASH THEM like we smashed ARsenal, Everton and all those pretenders.

COME ON YOU MIGHTY MIGHTY REDS.

7 more to go.

So Sterling's in, but for Allen, not for Coutinho as some were suggesting. We're obv.going for it.

Good. Shows we're concentrating on our own strengths, not wasting time worrying about the opposition. 😎
