Virgiling on the vandijkulous

Why on Earth would they keep him? You could understand it if they were trying to go to the next level but they're not. Their new owners haven't got funds for players. What's the fucking point of keeping him for more mid-table when they could have 70 mill and mid-table? I just don't see how they're not gonna sell. I suppose they may think he'll go for the same next year but nah. They'd be making further efforts to improve their level if their narrative around djikulous held weight.
Barcelona fans are saying the same about us with Coutinho. End of the day Van dijk is their best defender and they'll sell him next season when it suits them. He went a stupid way about trying to get his move. If they let him go its basically saying to the rest if you want to leave all you have to do is kick up a fuss and down tools and you can leave.

Bollocks.

If we fail to get a CB in this window gets a whole lot less successful.

We have to get this over the line, or have a super secret top CB all lined up & ready to go, which is unlikely in today's footy world.

We are in the Champions League and plan on challenging again for top four with an outside chance of a title run. Coutinho could be the difference in sustaining a title run.

Southampton are mid table bound again. They are a selling club and have sold for the last decade. Their last two managers left for 'greener pastures'. I'm pretty sure they could sell VVD, pocket a load of cash and finish in a similar position to last season.

Anyone else fairly sure they're just making us work for it and will cave at the last minute?

Thing is if they played ball they could maybe have Sakho as a direct replacement, loan Origi or perhaps even Grujic and the some of the young lads

I'm thinking they're happy with who they've got in, they've got a new cb in already & are just making us sweat & upping the price by a few million.

Or they just aren't going to sell.

One or the other.

Yeah i'll be pretty pissed off tbh. We've gone beyond the call of duty for attacking players, but it seems for our weakest area its van dijk or no one. That's bullshit.

True, I nearly forgot all the earlier nonsense with officially ending our interest. We'd need to officially get interested again soon.

Exactly. A swap deal of VVD for Ings, Sakho and Markovic (maybe plus a season long loan for Ejaria) would strengthen both teams.

Doing a good job of cutting their nose off, unless of course Sakho had no interest in going there.

Apples and Oranges. Southampton's model, despite the shrill offence on its behalf, is to buy low, improve and sell. Liverpool, on the other hand, buys to compete. It nay not always turn out that way, maybe, but there are fundamental differences.

Appaz the word from Southampton is that they are yet to receive ANY bids for VVD. Are we being polite? Are we continuing to respect our offer to retreat deferentially? Dust off the fucking fax machine ffs!

BREAKING NEWS
Virgil Van Dijk has left the Southampton training ground in the back of a blacked out car.
Where’s he off too?
