Virgiling on the vandijkulous

Could you provide a link to where it says that he has had a lisfranc injury/procedure?
Cant find that anywhere.

The "ankle" injury was going by all the media reports, which have been referring to an ankle injury.

This is from the Soton official site, so thats now corrected on my part:

Claude Puel explained at his press conference today: “It’s a long injury and we will see if he comes back before the end of the season. It’s a long injury for him."

Van Dijk damaged a ligament in the sole of his foot during the victory over the Foxes and required surgery as a result. Although the procedure was relatively routine, the placement of the injury means that it takes some time to heal.

I've got no idea about his prognosis about returning to his peak as a) I'm not his doctor and b) I didnt perform the surgery c) I've got no idea about what type of procedure he's been through and havent got any experience or knowledge about that.
You arent or havent got that either, so its all guesswork from your end.

If we decide to go through with this transfer it would be quite stupid to think that this isnt one of the things we've looked at before spending 45 + million £.

Its a process of deduction. Why you expect anyone to have reported it when they can't even get the information right about his injury when 'reporting' is unknown to me..

Cant see a link or some info to back it up. Could you provide that please?

Virgil van Dijk joined Southampton from Celtic for £13m in September 2015
Southampton will report Liverpool to the Premier League over an alleged illegal approach for centre-back Virgil van Dijk, reports BBC Radio Solent.
The 25-year-old wants to move to Anfield if he leaves St Mary's.
The £50m-rated Netherlands defender signed a new six-year contract last year, having joined Southampton from Celtic for £13m in September 2015.
Liverpool are yet to formally approach Saints to ask for permission to speak to Van Dijk.
The Reds refused to comment on renewed speculation on Monday, while Southampton are adamant they do not need to sell the defender.
Saints are irritated by what they see as an attempt to unsettle Van Dijk and are ready to reject an official offer.
Chelsea and Manchester City have both been heavily linked with the Dutchman, but City's interest has cooled as they are not prepared to pay as high a fee as Liverpool.
Former club Celtic are also understood to have a 10% sell-on agreement.
Van Dijk missed the final five months of the season after sustaining an ankle injury following a challenge by Leicester City's Jamie Vardy in Southampton's 3-0 win at St Mary's on 22 January.
It forced him to miss Southampton's EFL Cup final loss to Manchester United at Wembley.

Shameless. Southampton talked to Gabbiadini and agreed everything with him before contacting Napoli. And it was widely reported. And they neither expected nor got reported. We've been targeted aggressively on this subject ever since the Ziege transfer, and we shouldn't have just crumbled into contrition then, either. If clubs think this is an option they can try against us, we need to show we'll do it against them. Just about any transfer will do - it happens with nearly all of them. It's high time the rules were either clarified and made transparent, and enforced every time, or just scrapped. These arbitrary and isolated explosions of indignation are ridiculous.

I've provided a view on Van Dijk's injury situation having looked at all the publicly available info. Looking at what type of injury it is, how surgery is rare for a ligament injury, looking at the medical studies on athletes that have that injury and how they do and don't return from it.

You might recall nobody was reporting Henderson had plantar fasciitis when i said thats exactly what it sounded like he had, as well as saying that it was likely to be something that is an ongoing problem. And that seems to have been borne out.

I haven't quoted some know nothing knobhead on twitter. But if you want i can post it all on twitter and provide you a link. I know you'd believe it then.

So in other words your guessing. I thought that was what you didnt like about Twitter.
Knobheads guessing and claiming they know stuff.

Didn't they do the same thing when we went for clyne and possibly Lallana too?

It seems Southampton would prefer VVD not to have made up his mind so they could profit from continuing speculation.

It's funny because it's true!

I did wonder at what point the club that he is contracted to play for (for another four years) would be allowed to have an opinion

Oh FFS! It's never fucking straight forward is it. If we fuck this up I am damn well going to eat a sticky toffee pudding (with full fat vanilla ice cream) I don't care how fat I get! 😡

Think it was the same with Clyne. Will they report only us, if so, why not the other clubs who have been in contact with him?
Its also weird that some of the media reported he had told the club and his representatives about where he wanted to go.

Maybe just a big show to look better towards their own fans in regards to selling one of their top players?

Because its one thing to do it via intermediaries and retain deniability.

Its another for journos left right and centre to be lauding Klopp for persuading Van Dijk to join us before a fee is agreed.

They've become the most tetchily litigious club in the top league. I think they also reported a ref a while ago for teasing one of their players.

Anyone else think that although we have tapped him up, Southampton are just pissed off that they aren't going to have a bidding war?

Come on Virgil, I'm sure Lallana, Clyne and Lovren have told you how to force it through.

Perhaps Southampton has a better bid from another club but Van Dijk isn't cooperative for whatever reason. We won't up our bid because we've talked to the player and feel confident we can get the player to dig in and force Southampton to back down on their demands, so they tie us up in this tapping up report to force us to either drop the pursuit or bring our bid closer to the other club's.

All pure spejaculation of course.
