Yes, Lawro was also a magnificent footballer and he did make Jockey look even better than he actually was from time to time... They were EASILY our best ever CB pairing, and I'm not sure that I've ever seen better, anywhere.
That said, Jockey wasn't slow - He just never looked like he was was trying... He glided around the field, like an air-hockey puck, usually dictating the match from CB, and so he looked slower than he was. Plus, his reading of the game was so imperious, that he rarely needed to break into a sprint... he just saw things develop on the field faster than most other players, and so was already there before opponents even decided to do whatever they were doing.
