I copied the text for those who can't see the embedded tweet. Sorry about that.

I'm really not sure on this one.

On the one hand, he's played the sweeper keeper role in one of the most successful sides ever, behind an oft non-existent defence. He's proved his worth in numerous high pressure games, kept his concentration levels high when not seeing much of the ball for large chunks of games and managed to be the undisputed No.1 at Barca for years.

On the other hand, he's never quite convinced me as a 'commanding' (what we're lacking?) keeper and always looked to have an error in him (though that's somewhat mitigated by the points above). He's 32 and will want mega wages.

Ambivalent.

Give him a fuckload for a pay as you play contract. Hopefully it'll motivate Mignolet to not be such a fucking pussy

I reckon it could be a good signing. Ming might learn a thing or two off him.

But then again, what the fuck do I know?

How good is he exactly? Is he a better all around keeper than Ming, probably. The question is how much the injury have set him back.

A short term keeper and a short term striker. We're building a heck of a spine here for November.

Don't think we can expect a complete changing of the guard in one Summer where we very clearly needed to expand the size of the squad and try to address defensive issues (at least the FB issue has been solved - at least as far as I'm concerned) 😉

If Valdes is not only an improvement on Ming but inspires/teaches him to improve then it can only be a good move for us.

As far as the 'Sweeping' bit is concerned .. not bothered. He can't be worse than Ming, what he can be is far better at commanding his box with more authority and just generally be much better at organising the defence in front of him, which, all said and done, is probably the major issue we have at present back there, rather than the personnel per se.

Mignolet reminds of James during his time here.

Pulls off astonishing saves but failed miserably to organise or inspire confidence in the defence & looked less than capable when high balls came in.

Mignolet's saves may be a little more impressive, but not much, & not enough to make up for the problems he causes overall.

Unless Valdes has been on the end of a Kathy bates style hobbling he will be considerably better than Mignolet.

Troo fact.

Does Mingolet even play the SNES?

When we have such consistent 'bad luck' with keepers, & they consistently get worse whilst here, & keepers often criticise our goalkeeping coach, I think it might be time to wonder if there's an issue there.

Would love to see him replicate that high boot on Costa.. The majority seem to be when he has the ball at his feet which is lucky as that isn't our style of play.......

I doubt, say, Rob Green would get a similar YouTube tribute - keepers like that don't make isolated mistakes, they just make loads of mistakes.

mignolet gets criticized for 'not standing right' or 'not being vocal enough' - those mistakes are just complete shit that you wouldnt see mignolet making. im not saying he wont be better but that video is not a good sign
