Markovic and Lallana should start, we need to control their attackers so Lucas and Allen again for me, but I'd probably give Henderson the night off. Manquillo and Johnson as the full backs, as we'll need to be tight at the back. I'd start Balotelli if he's fit, if not Lambert, hopefully he's recovered, with Gerrard just behind. Sterling needs a rest, he can't keep playing, and i think he'd be a perfect sub.

Any news on Di Maria? I'm pretty sure he'll be back for this one, which is a shame. This game is massive, we simply have to win.

I really can't see us getting anything from this game with ricky fucking lambert upfront. The best we can hope for is a deflection from a coutinho shot, or sterling beating 6 players then tripping over his feet and accidentally pushing it over the line. Then by some miracle hoping they dont get a shot off at mignolet.
I'm out for a family birthday meal for this one thank fuck, else I think it'd depress me. The two games against these cunts every year are the only ones that get me down if we lose anymore.

I guess if Balo is ready then he'll be on the bench. Play our form players in any formation you want but please please please BR don't put players who are playing shite on the pitch.

Swamp the midfield. If we can win midfield we'll reduce the flow to RvP / Di Maria / Rooney whilst giving ourselves the best chance of somehow conjuring a goal from somewhere. Lallana is good cover and tracks back as does Sterling, Markovic can come on for Can / Allen for the last 30 mins and run at them if we need a goal, Gerrard will be up for this and tearing around all over the place - so let him by putting him where that won't do any damage. Every one of those front 4 MFers can work both the midfield and attack. 6 in midfield, with 4 floating around, may drag their defence out and any one of 5 of them can run through.

We looked much more dangerous vs. Basel when Lambert came off and we played without a recognised striker.
