Trent, Salah and VVD

Statistically he's our worst defender ! Weigh those scales. Bradders already has better defensive stats and his G+As based on minutes played last season is almost twice as good as Trents !

I don't know if Bradley is the answer to RB but I'm damn sure Trent isn't.

Are you really saying that the lad generally considered the best right back of his generation isn’t the answer to right back.

Are you actually Gareth Southgate in disguise???

Come on mate - one bad performance doesn’t do that - he’s generally considered to be the best RB in the Premier League this season.

Comparing his stats to Bradley (and I’m a big fan of Bradley) isn’t comparing like with like, as you very well know.

We'll never win the league or CL with someone like Trent at RB!

But point is Brad is exclusively injured with lengthy spells last year and this year. Not sure about defensive stats, pre RM/City game, he looked off it and really picked up on form just before his latest injury so we need to see how fares when he has a run of games. Regarding Trent, his defensive stats his return haven't been great but looked much tighter I thought before then. Haven't seen defensive stats between both but probably Brad needs more game time before it can add more context. Again, Trent as an attacking RB is fantastic and has been pre United game personally. It all maybe irrelevant as currently we don't have another choice till we sign another option or Bradley can stay fit which would be great for us.

I think Trent has reached his ceiling, and unfortunately he's not consistent enough with passing going forward (too many hopeless Hollywood balls), and he's still not at the level defensively we need.

I mean, we would have potentially won more without Trent at RB. The Paris final alone might have gone differently
How? We had more shots then them and still not scored. Yes, maybe we may have gone to pens and won it there I guess. To focus on one shot they scored from one player is a bit off.

That last game was an abomination. The worst I think I've ever seen him play, and in that respect it has to be seen as an outlier, but:
1. United targeted him. That hasn't happened for a while. Every team will do it now.
2. His head dropped. He didn't show any appetite for a fight, nor for staying in position and, you know, defending.
3. He got a bit of aggro from some sections of the crowd, I'm sure he heard it, and I'm sure it won't be the last time.
4. Bradley was immeasurably better when he came on.
He's a Liverpool player, he's a Liverpool lad, he's re-defined what a full-back can be, I wish him nothing but success (in Red, at least) but he still hasn't learned how and when to defend. Across a season you can accept that there will be days when he wins us the game, and days when he may cost us. In the round he will always add significantly more than he takes away. But on that day, against that team, when we're 2-1 up, just fucking sit back and defend with your team-mates, or if you are caught out then bust a gut to get back - fans will forgive the failure if they know it isn't for the want of trying. That really shouldn't be too much to ask.
If I were Arne I'd be dropping him tonight, saying he's got the flu and suggesting he may have been coming down with it on Sunday. And I really wish that were true.

I want Slot to punish him by playing him as Captain.... and rest key players. 3 points is worth more than the 1st leg. We need Conor for forest.
We fans are fickle, give a good performance at Spurs and we will lay off.

Well, if we’re in the realms of him having to say stuff to stop normally sane people concocting conspiracy theories, then maybe you’re right.

And he didn’t “throw Gravy under the bus”, don’t go all Modo as well to top it off.

If the 3 points are more important then we need to get Bradley match fit.

Teams have attacked our right back for years but I was relaxed about it because he gave us goals and assists. The good outweighed the bad and we’d hope he would learn to be more defensively sound. You’re on the money he has reached his ceiling because his defending has not improved by a great deal and he doesn’t seem arsed now which is the biggest crime when you play for us. Especially when you are 2-1 up against your rivals and fighting for top of the league.

We’ve given loads of shit players time provided they left it all on the pitch. Then again we were shit then. Now we are good we expect them to be good and leave it all on the pitch.

We are still under a somewhat Klopp side for now but I don’t see him being a key player to utilise his strengths to hide his deficiencies under Slot. It probably is time for us to part ways.

It's not a conspiracy theory Stevie, he's a new manager who, despite being excellent so far, has a relatively modest background and standing. You can understand why he would tread a fine line with big name players. Yes he's made tough decisions and he no doubt will again, but he'll have been all to aware of the politics surrounding Trent at the weekend, on the back of the Madrid bid. Like I said, Slot is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't, when it comes to making decisions around Trent. No one is saying that taking him off risked making up Trent's mind for him, but it will have fed the narrative of certain quarters even more so than his shit performance subsequently did, and that in turn doesn't help our case, by adding more pressure to the whole situation.

Then take a closer look at my post that I linked to !

There are obviously things to note about Trent :

1. He was the best in the world under Klopp when playing as a conventional FB - but not since he started inverting and definitely not last season and this season is even worse.
2. One bad performance?! ONE ?! Haha come on Stevie - he's been shite for much of this season, as has even been noted by the TV pundits.
3. Of course Bradders is a youngster and doesn't have enough games under his belt (and next to nothing this season) but check again those stats from last season and tell me he doesn't suit Slots tactics better :

You are again under a misapprehension - I have never claimed to be sane.

Slow news day for “Tap In” that he had to say that effectively todays news is that there’s no news.

Why isn’t KDB not signing

See… a lot of those pundits you speak of gave Trent as the best RB of the season so far - so your claim he’s worse this season or he’s been”shite for much of the season” isn’t strictly true.

Check it out if you don’t believe me.

Again, not being critical of Bradley - but he only played in 23 games total last season - 11 League games, plus 4 games each in Europa, FA & League Cups - comparisons are limited against a player who played 37 games in total - 28 league games, 5 Europa and 2 each in Fa & League Cups.

I wouldn’t disagree that last season wasn’t Trent’s best, but also, you can’t just look at stats for direct comparison to even his previous seasons because the role he was asked to play and our system was different.

The working theory was, Trent was getting back to his best - but everything he does at the minute is viewed negatively even if it’s not.

But that's just not true, Stevie... He's NOT been brilliant, this season. He's been far more often poor than brilliant for a couple of seasons now.

Those pundits remember a few moments in easy matches (Spurs two weeks back, in particular), and then pretend that they've been watching as closely as we all have, every game, every week... They can't admit that they haven't seen anything more than highlights, mostly. Saying that Jamie O'Hara or even Carra saying it means it's true just isn't the case, and you know that, mate.

tbh i thought i was going mad with pundits putting him in their team of the season so far.

I've heard myself screaming obscenities at the radio throughout the week... WTF are they actually watching?!?!?!
it does feel theres been a media shift the second he looks like he's off to madrid. Now he's the RB that england need, rather than a liability southgate could do without
