Not open for further replies.
We won't sign anyone further. We're saving all our money for our 'big' summer of more 'edge of your seat' signings. All 38 quid of it

I remember the simao debacle

How about a "transfer merry go round?"

Keane > Sunderland
Jones > Liverpool
Babel > Birmingham

Or maybe just Jones > Birmingham
When was the last time we signed someone on the last day of the transfer window?
I think Arbeloa came on the last day of the January transfer window, and Mascherano too at first

Also Riera signed on the last day of the summer transfer window.

There is often some young cheap shite too. Plessis for example

I cant believe im sat watching SSN in the faint hope that we might be linked with someone - anyone. I dont even care who it is, just someone.

Anyone reckon, anything remotely exciting might happen for us today??

Its a good job my girlfriend is out all day.

We usually try and fail though. Looks like we're not even trying this year.

Olympiakos right-back Vasilis Torosidis is on his way to Liverpool for a medical according to reports from Greece, with Rafa wanting a replacement for the injured Glen Johnson. He is a great friend of Liverpool and Greek centre-back Soitrios Kyrgiakos

Rafa wasn't joking when he said he wanted a Right Back, over a Striker. Or a Winger. Or a Left Back.

He started well but has been a bit quiet of late at sunderland. is 6 goals in 18 what we need?

At the risk of going over old ground.
My stance has shifted a bit from a few weeks ago, but if anyone thinks we have a realistic chance of fourth place the answer is yes, based on the question : Is Jones going to be more earthly use than Babel?

I don't think we stand a dogs chance of fourth, I also think Rafa will be going so we might as well wait and see what the new man wants to do

Olympiacos

He moved to Olympiacos in January 2007 and scored his first goal with Olympiacos against PAOK on 21 January 2007. He scored his first European goal for Olympiacos in the UEFA Cup 2008/09 1st round 5-0 home leg win against FC Nordsjælland and scored another one against Herta Berlin 4-0 in the group stage.

A hard full back known for his exceptional physical strength, endurance and technique, he has been an important part of the Greek national team and the Olympiacos team since joining the club. He has been monitored by Juventus, Bayern, AS Monaco, Rangers, Newcastle[1] , Atletico Madrid and other clubs, but all offers for the player were rejected by Olympiacos. However, after both sides agreed on and signed a contract extension in the summer of 2009, Torosidis now has a fixed transfer fee of EUR 7.000.000 and media reports state that if he continues to perform as he does now, a club willing to pay that sum after the 2010 World Cup will be easily found and he will transfer to a bigger club.
[edit] Liverpool

It was reported on Greek radio on February 1st 2010 that he was to join English Premier League club Liverpool.

I'm not sure why you're so convinced that fourth place is hopeless. I'm in total agreement that Rafa should be gone in the summer but there is plenty of the season left yet and we're not that far away at the moment. It's certainly not the pipe dream that you seem to think it is.

Well, little things , like buying a fucking right back when we need a forward are clues to the way I am thinking.

Sorry I am so pessimistic Del, it's just the way I see it.

Spurs will pull themselves together soon, City still have a couple of games in hand on us, and I would not discount Villa putting a run together. I think we will be lucky to finish seventh.
I will be absolutely delirious if I am proved wrong.

As and when Torres comes back, he will still take a few weeks to get to match fitness.

Dirk scored a scuffed goal that was put on a plate, Insua scored from a shot that really was going to hit the corner flag and N'gog performed to produce the worst miss in the Anny Road goal since Ronnie Rosenthal.
Our Italy international, after a great game against Spurs, put on a woefully shite display.
This was against a team in a relegation battle.

I didn't take too much away from Saturday , other than Kyriakos for the time being has shored the defence up, we did a job against Bolton.

Next week might be an interesting time for everyone to evaluate how likely fourth spot is , after we have played the blue shite.

Sorry sod.

If this is indeed what you believe you really should put a wager on it. You'll be served with some great odds.

Because it's not going to happen.

Off TLW

"My Fenerbahce supporting mate seems to think we're in for Daniel Guiza on loan for the rest of the season, with a view to buy for £10m. He's suggesting it's all over the media there but there's nothing in the media over here, so I'm not sure. I did ask him if there was anything in the Arda Turan rumours, but he said just the usual tabloid speculation. He also said he doesn't give a shit about Gala players, but there you go."

It's just realism based on evidence off what Vlad sees every game KHL. There's little sign of improvement to get to that fourth spot. We're playing poorly we're not strengthening up front which is a massive issue. If anything it's more likely that we'll not finish in the top four than us doing so. What, based on the way we've played all season, would make anyone think otherwise?

I've a feeling the blueshite will beat us Saturday

That would be awesome.

Whenever he's replacing Torres for Spain he scores.

I don't think it's realistic at all that we'll end up 7th in the League. And I've seen every game we've played this Season bar one or two as well.

Claiming that we'll end up 7th or worse at this point is not realism. That's good ol pessimism.

*We've already won at Goodison and beaten the likes of United, Villa and Spurs as well. It's not the big games so far that has let us down this Season and I don't hink the game on Sat will change that.
We were lucky at Goodison KHL, nothing else.
We were.

But we've been unlucky an umpteenth number of times as well. It'll ease itself out over the course of a Season I hope.

We are due some good fortune.

But you can't deny Sunny that our 2nd half against Bolton was pretty good, and that Stevie looks like he's finally finding his feet.

It will be an extremely tight and tough game, but we have a good chance of getting all 3 points if continue in the same manner.

I don't think looking pretty good in a second half, and scoring a flukey goal against a team struggling at the bottom of the league is any sort of yardstick for optimism or progress old lad.
The only thing for that is to have Torres back and fit and scoring goals for us, and that is going to be many weeks off yet.
Without him we look very toothless up front.

Kuyt usually scores against Everton though. And he's on quite a run too. Bagging three in three.

Last season I started a rumour that Portsmouth were on the brink of signing A-League striker Archie Thompson.

It made it on:

skysports.com
sportinglife.com
bbc.co.uk/sport
football.guardian.co.uk
portsmouth supporters website

and also on talksport

Haha.. there's a reason it's called rumours after all....

Fuck it, 90 mins to the window closes and we won't bring in anybody.

Jeezzess Rafa, how hard can it be? We need a back up striker. Anyone will do.

Stubborn Spanish bastard.
