I'll never forget this image.

What's going on is that he made the mistake of his life leaving a club (a) where he was idolised and (b) where the style was tailored specifically for him, to go to a plastic freak show where none of that applies, and it's destroyed his form and confidence. Even when we played them a few days after his move, he already looked depressed sitting in the stands. "What the F'CK have I done?" was written all over him.
confidence is a big one - you're right. clubs where he has played and been idolised he has done really well. him and suarez could have been amazing.

Is this league or all comps? Cant be fucked checking back.

He's got 17 in all comps now.

7 goals in the league.

Less than his club mate Lukaku who wasn't good enough to play for Chelsea who has twelve goals without playing alongside some of the best attacking midfielders in the league.

And without an amazing manager who knows how to get the best out of him.

21 goals must include international friendlies, pre season and shit.

As a top notch premier league striker he is 'done'

Also he had 4 in 10 under Di Matteo.

3 in 14 under the greatest manager to ever set foot in England, who loves Liverpool and knows how to get the best out of Fernando Torres.

Are there any more myths people want shattered? Tag me @Rosco.

They're all part of the real Torres. Nobody did it for him when he was in a Liverpool shirt making defences cack themselves, and nobody's making him play like a puppet with its strings cut now. At his best he was a tremendously good striker, but he's mentally weak - he took Chelsea's shilling when he shouldn't have, and now can't cope with the consequences.

I think Rafa and Stevie did it.

He has 6 in Europe, 2 in the FA cup, and 2 in the league cup, plus the 7 in the league, which gives 17, not sure where they other 4 are coming from.

I think he can have a career and score goals, just not a top club, and hopefully not with us.

Euro 2012.

I'd take him back, just to see if he can do it and if it really is a question of passion rather than ability being dampened.

On paper the prospect of him getting back near his best alongside Suarez, Coutinho and co is interesting to say the least.

I love the passion dampened argument.
Because he was so enthusiastic and loving it here for the last 12 months wasn't he?

It's a theory that can be filed alongside Sterlings emotional exhaustion and Downings lack of cojones to play at a big club in the bullshit excuses file.

It's pretty clear physically he's nowhere near what he was.

Time for me to pay up methinks 🙁

Give me the link to the charity you want the donation made to Ross !

Yeah, As much as it would be good to turn back the clock, Rosco is right. He was a tit for the last 10 months here, barely trying unless Chelsea came to town. He's 29 and for a striker, that's like 32. His time has passed. Time for the next Torres.

He was an uber-tit at that time all right, but that could actually turn out to be an advantage if it prompts him to try even harder now.

As for the point about age, Van Persil's 29 too. I'll have some of that for our squad if it's going for the right price.

Good point J.J. but VP is clearly able to deliver for the past few years. Torres has been duff for about 3 years now - 1 with us and 2 with the Russians.

If we brought him back, several more young kids would have the chance to be employed as ball boys behind the goals. Brendan Rodgers may be up for that. The nice man that he is.
