Makes me wonder if Brendan is ready to shift Downing considering Sterling, Ibe, Aspas and Alberto's performances in these pre season games.
Why the right wing?
Cause if Suarez stays I don't think there's another spot in our midfield that is up for grabs. Lucas, Gerrard, Coutinho, Suarez and Sturridge have pretty much cemented their place in the starting line up.

I don't think Sterling looks right there either.. Him and Ibe could be big plusses for us this season though, we've got loads of options on the left, and Downing on the right 😕

Aspas can play on the right. Has done so before. I'll be gutted if downing is still a regular next season. There's no way he's good enough for a team aiming for top 4.

Not sure about Lucas, its a case of 3 midfielders from 4 of Gerrard Allen Lucas and Henderson, I would say Gerrard is the only guaranteed starter when fit. For me Lucas and Allen are too similar to play in the same side so they should be competing for a place, however 4 first team options to cover 3 places sounds like we could be left short at some point in the season bearing in mind Lucas and Allen both missed big chunks of last year. Is Alberto a CM aswell? or does he play further forward like Coutinho. If he does then we may need to bring in one more considering last season we had Sahin Shelvey and Suso in reserve, now all of them have gone we look a little short of numbers in the middle

I don't think we're short of numbers - we've got six players for three positions. We're short on quality though.

With our current squad I'm hoping it's aspas. Even though I would like to see Johnson further forward. I think he could do a bale.
