I'm pretty sure that I'm right about Rodgers wanting a solid young midfield of players for the future, but knows that means he can't afford forwards.

Let's face it, you can swap forwards in & out of the side much easier than any other position.

Also, loans deals mean the player is either trying to earn a move to the club he's loaned to or is trying to prove his worth to his original club. As well as that, if the player likes it here he'll push for a move & we're in a much stronger position to get a lower price on a contract that has reduced by a year.

I really don't see any downside myself.

Good post Jon Fox. Think a loan move for both Sahin and Tello would be ace. They both have something to prove.

I've only really seen Tello in the semi against Chelsea and all he seemed to do was kick and chase it to no real effect. In fairness Chelsea were camped on the edge of the box with a bank of 8 for 25 mins at the time.

Come back Alonso. How I wish.

FIRSTLY, in-bound at Anfield, and rumours still persist that Barcelona winger Cristian Tello could make a loan switch to the club, with Spanish expert Guillem Balague revealing on Twitter that the Reds are favourite to land the youngster.

The one stumbling block is that Tello is not yet convinced a move abroad at this stage is the right choice, as Atletico Madrid wait in the wings. Balague also revealed that Liverpool think ‘they have done enough to convince Sahin’ to make the switch to Anfield, with Spanish paper AS also reporting that former Red Xabi Alonsohas been involved in attempting to persuade the Turkish midfielder to head to Merseyside, a move which he feels will benefit his career. Exit-wise, and in the face of tremendous speculation that he is about to leave the club, Daniel Agger has reiterated his desire to stay with the Reds – but admits it is out of his hands.

Barcelona and Manchester City were said to be chasing the Danish centre-back with the Premier League champions the only club to launch a formal bid – a bid which was dismissed by Liverpool. However, the Reds appeared to leave the door open for an increased offer for the player when manager Brendan Rodgers admitted that ‘every player has his price’, in the face of City’s interest.

Rodgers then looked to distance himself from any non-footballing decision that may take place by insisting that Daniel Agger is a player he wishes to keep, but noises coming out of the club still suggest that Agger could leave – if the right offer is submitted. A decision that could be taken in light of the player’s injury-chequered career.

Guilame Balague
Spanish journalist Guillem Balague has today taken to Twitter and AS.com to announce that Liverpool are signing Nuri Sahin from Real Madrid.

According to Balague, new Liverpool boss Brendan Rogers is intent of creating a Liverpool midfield who are experts at ball retention and passing. In that vain the Anfielders have already swooped for Joe Allen to play along Lucas Leiva, and now Turkish midfielder Nuri Sahin is set to be on his way from Real Madrid.

As explained by Balague in AS:
Sahin has rejected the opportunity to be part of the Luka Modric deal, but after weeks of talking to Xabi Alonso he has learned of the benefits of going to Liverpool: a special club where he could play regularly. Apparently Xabi’s work is paying off and Sahin seems convinced… Ian Ayre, executive director of the English club, is in Spain because he and Rodgers believe Sahin (and perhaps Barcelona’s Cristian Tello) can both be signed.
Sahin’s presumed availability stems from a difficult first season in Spain for the Turk.

Signed from Borussia Dortmund for €10 million last summer, the 23-year-old picked up a knee injury during last pre-season 2011, and that setback restricted him to only ten appearances last campaign. That disparate involvement, combined with the fact that Real hardly missed Sahin as they won La Liga, has fuelled belief that he is surplus to requirements by Jose Mourinho.

I see what you did there, and IMO it's her best song by an absolute country mile.

It's her only song that doesn't make me want to fill a sock with 2 ping-pong balls and beat her repeatedly around the face.

I think you need some lessons from Dantes about how to inflict pain.

I not trying to inflict pain.... I'm trying to give her an experience that is as irritating as having to listen one of her songs.

I'm all for re-education I am.

Wolves have rejected 12 mill + bid for Fletcher from Sunderland. Insane.

Kone on his way to Wigan, that will be a good free transfer signing.

Fletcher: 24 year old who's scored consistently on a shit team

Honestly the fee quoted doesn't surprise

Which is a good point, how does Rodwell come into this equation he has done fuck all in a shit team for £18m, Fletcher has a goal every other game for Wolves

Can't believe that we were linked with him.
Why? Proven goalscorer for an awful side. Clinical and a good attitude.

He wouldn't be the answer but we've been linked to worse with no complaint by fans

Fletchers record isn't amongst the higher echelons of quality, but he's averaging 12/13 a season for teams who generally are shit, Hibs, burnley and wolves.

How is that proven based on one season?

19 in 46 the season before that.

Never mind Adam. I just don't think the whole being "proven" thing is something we should solely go by.
I mean Downing was proven.
