Am i the only one in shock at this Alex Song to Barca deal?

He's never overly impressed me tbh.
I think he's very good and he's improved immensely in the past few season. Great energy, get's stuck in and backs up the play into the final third. Check out some of his passes to RVP especially a pair of dinks over the top for RVP to volley home.

Now saying all that, I obviously don't see him shifting any of the Barca midfielders from the team but he'll be a fine addition to their squad. Barca are just being greedy as usual and tapping up more players.

Are Barca really signing Alex Song or is it just paper talk?

They have Busquets and Maschareno - both are much better than Song. What on earth is the point of signing him?

They should stop fucking about with Maschareno in defence and buy a proper CB.

I think he's massively under rated, that pass against us for RVP was sublime.

Not having a go but how often does he do that? any player's capable of a bit of magic from time to time.

I'm not saying Song's a shit player, he's neat and tidy and keeps possession i've seen midfielders run rings around him when Wenger's played him in the holding role. Just surprised Barca are in for him.

I heard an Arsenal fan on the radio the other day - and he mentioned this particular possible transfer and he was livid - because I think their fans rate Song very highly, and he said that if they sold him to Barca it shows absolutely no ambition as he was not pleased with the signings that were made already mainly because he felt that they were not top class and that no other clubs actually wanted them. So from their perspective this is not something they probably want.

Wolves have rejected Liverpool’s bid of £500,000 for goalkeeper Dorus de Vries, 31. Wolves want £1million.

DORUS DE VRIES
GOALKEEPER

Nationality: Dutch
DOB:29/12/1980
Height:6'3" (191 cm)
Weight:15st 2lbs (96 kg)

Goalkeeper Dorus De Vries stands 6'3 tall and has represented the Dutch at under-21 level.

He joined Wolves on a free transfer in the summer of 2011, signing a three-year deal after his contract at Barclays Premier League new boys Swansea came to an end.

De Vries began his professional career in his native Holland with Stormvogels Telstar and moved to Den Haag before a switch to Scotland with Dunfermline.

His spell with Dunfermline saw him play in the 2007 Scottish Cup Final when they were beaten 1-0 by Celtic.

The cup final proved the last of De Vries' 34 appearances in the one season spent with Dunfermline, his form earning him a chance to move down South by joining Swansea.

In the four season spent in South Wales, De Vries chalked up just over 200 appearances and helped the club to two promotions to ensure a climb from League One up to a first ever campaign in the Premier League.

The 2009/10 Championship season saw De Vries keep a club record 25 clean sheets, also picking up the division's Golden Glove award.

He was a League ever present in Swansea's promotion winning 2010/11 campaign and, including play-off and League Cup games, he took part in 51 fixtures shutting out the opposition out on 23 occasions.

He also looks just like David Luiz. I agree, thought he looked very erratic. I'd imagine this trial at City has got much more to do with them being owned by the royal family of one of the emirates than any remote possibility of him ever actually playing a game for them.

I think he looks amazing. Can't believe he did all of this in one game, most players season compilations look less impressive.

Please don't start bigging up any of our players.

Re: The most underrated player in the premiership
Danny Guthrie for sure. It's just astounding he hasn't been called up by England yet.

On a serious note though:

Darren Fletcher, still. - Ulcerative Colitis
Alexandre Song - I fucking love him.
Zabaleta
Ahmed el Muhammadi (Sunderland right-back/right winger)
Stilyian Petrov - Leukaemia
Hendry Thomas and Mohamed Diame at Wigan - Dodgy heart

Meanwhile, De Vries is the latest Wolves player to have been unsettled by talk of a move. Liverpool, whose new boss Brendan Rodgers managed the goalkeeper at Swansea, are understood to have had two bids rejected for the Dutchman.

Wolves threw out an initial offer of £350,000 for the 31-year-old, who has two years left on his contract after signing on a free transfer from Swansea a year ago.

The Reds have since returned with an improved offer, but Wolves are believed to be seeking a seven-figure sum. With Wayne Hennessey last term not expected to regain full fitness until October with a ruptured cruciate ligament, Wolves’ only other senior keeper is Carl Ikeme.

It looked as though Paris Saint-Germain had made the biggest splash on shelling out more than €60 million for Thiago Silva and Zlatan Ibrahimovic but Zenit Saint Petersburg has decided to make an even bigger impact on the market.

The Russian club is going all out and making a big effort to secure the services of Brazilian forward Hulk, who currently plays for Porto.

According to Portuguese newspaper A Bola, Zenit has offered the Portuguese club €50 million (half his buy-out clause) plus Bruno Alves. The Brazilian defender’s transfer from AEK Athens cost €22 million so the deal would be worth a total of €72 million.

Despite the offer, Porto would prefer Hulk to stay in Portugal with an increase in his current salary. However, the Brazilian wants to join the exodus of his compatriots who have crossed the pond to play in Europe like Oscar to Chelsea and Lucas Moura to PSG. There are others who could also be added to that list, such as Damiao.

The Guardian confirmed that Tottenham has launched a new offensive to sign the footballer from Sport Club Internacional in Porto Alegre.

Fernando Llorente, the Athletic Bilbao striker, has informed the club of his intention to leave after failing to reach an agreement with the directors over his contract renewal, the Basque public television channel Euskal Telebista (ETB) has announced on its website.

The European and world champion may be seeking an exit from the club which he has played for since 2005 and where he has become one of the best strikers in Spain. "Fernando Llorente wants to leave Athletic and he informed the directors on Friday. The player cites sporting reasons for making the decision," read the ETB website.

His departure would be extremely painful for 'Los Leones' and his main motivation may lie behind the disagreement over the renewal of his contract, which ends next season.

The player was whistled at by part of the crowd over the issue in the last Europa League qualifier against Slaven Belupo Koprivnica, and this may have been what sparked Llorente to take the decision to leave.

Saw that about llorente. BBC Gossip said Liverpool and chelsea have been alerted

I wrote this two years ago:

I know that everyone is jizzing about Joe Cole right now but...

what do you think about Fernando Torres Llorente as a partner/cover for Torres. I brought up Gyan before but I'm kinda surprised that I haven't heard any transfer news regarding Llorente. IMO he's top class and wouldn't cost us an arm and a leg.

While on the subject of Basque players. Javi Martinez seems to be a great replacement for Mascherano, I'm sure we can afford him with the money we get from selling Mascherano.

Ahh...positive "Modo", long time no see.

Anyway...what I'm saying is, I've wanted us to sign him for two years. When we were being linked with Carroll I wanted Llorrente instead.
But I'm perfectly aware of the fact that we don't have a chance in hell to sign him.
