If we're getting Johnson or anyone else as part of a deal it should be permanent, not a loan. Otherwise city Will shaft us next year when we try to buy him. 18 million plus Johnson permanently would be a good deal. Having said that id rather agger stayed

You mean like we were shafted with Aqua ?

I actually think the power resides with the buying club not the seller in cases of loans turning into permanent transfers.

People still haven't realised that we just don't have that much cash to splash around and loan deals for what would be expensive players to buy, where we are paying only the salary, and not for the pleasure of the loan, are perfect for us at this moment in time.

I don't think that would apply with City, they don't have to give a fuck. If we take him for a year, he does well and we want him and he wants to sign, City are a position to do what the fuck they like and not have to particularly just get what they can for him, they can hold out for what they want, and if he's done well for us, then that could spark a bidding war.

True. But even they (and especially if the player himself hands in a transfer request) will want to get rid if they have no future use for him. As far as we are concerned, great if we can get him for a decent price, if not we can just move on - exactly as per Aqua.

ye, but thats a ridiculous deal, that would basically be johnson for free

No it wouldn't. I'd guess our valuation of Agger would be in the region of £25 mill, besides which they're getting f'ck all out of Johnson as it is and would be saving on his wages.

I'd imagine Johnson will be on relatively big wages though, so ideally for us I could see us taking him but having City subsidise his wages, which would then, for the benefit of City, take a chunk off the fee. My reading of that earlier article is that we want £22m, City have offered £18m, so are prepared to use Johnson as a makeweight.

Either that or we're getting him on a permanent deal, which would mean as far as the fee for Johnson goes, on paper at least, we're getting a bargain. We're just losing a fucking good player in the process.

Spain international Javi Martinez’s agent has said the Athletic Bilbao midfielder wants to move to Bayern Munich. Sport 1 quoted Ersin Akan as saying: "He wants to go to Bayern, and Bayern are still interested in signing him.

"I know that they still want him, but the transfer fee is a problem. He's just waiting to see how things pan out, but he would like it if the transfer takes place. I'd say chances that it will go ahead are 50-50 now."

Here’s Valntijn Driessen, of Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, on two possible Newcastle signings. On Gregory Van Der Wiel (Ajax right-back): “I can imagine he has been offered [to Newcastle]. Now they [Ajax] can make money from him, next season they can’t.”

On Anita: “He is coming from the youth of Ajax - they are not the best paid players. Since 10 days ago, he has a new agent, Mina Raiola, and he wants to sell players.”

Van der Wiel was a horrible let down in the Euros. Always rated him, but looked awful in that tournament.

Did anyone watch that video? That through ball was great, but he looks largely a bit clumsy and his touch is all over the place, but he's quick and he's got a good eye for a pass. I have to ask though, have UAE got the Jackson 5 out of retirement?

He also looks just like David Luiz. I agree, thought he looked very erratic. I'd imagine this trial at City has got much more to do with them being owned by the royal family of one of the emirates than any remote possibility of him ever actually playing a game for them.
