So it was reported in the rumours section.
The pedants are taking over this site clearly.
Not pedantic really. If the Echo reports a transfer story then there's substance whereas if it's reported by the Metro then it's invariably horse shit. Bit of a difference.

Fernando Amorebieta is currently only thinking about Athletic de Bilbao. This according to the message transmitted from inside the footballer's camp. The company representing him, Football Management 04, confirmed to MARCA on Friday that Liverpool was interested in signing him, as was previously reported in the MARCA newspaper.

However, his agents also wanted to make it clear that Amorebieta's preference is to stay at the Basque club. "There is a clear wish on the part of the player to continue his association with Athletic and, even, see out his career in San Mamés. However, his good season has attracted interest from several teams, one of which is Liverpool", they explained. In fact, they commented that the English club "is the one that has shown the most interest up to now".

Athletic de Bilbao does not want to let the Venezuelan go, but has the slight disadvantage that Amorebieta's contract is up on 30th June 2013. As a result "negotiations have begun", Football Management 04 admitted. What is also clear is that neither party wants long, drawn out talks.

We do seem to be sounding out quite a few centre halves.
Sakho from PSG being the latest that we are supposedly interested in.

Skrtel might well go I suppose. But if we spend half his fee on a new CB and invest the rest towards a hot poo winger I'd be happy enough.

Sakho I'd be content with.

Dmishra! What's ynang-biwa like? Any realistic chances of getting him? Heard he had a good season

I haven't seen too much of him, but he's supposed to be good. A bit small-ish though compared to Skrtel, so dunno if he'll be a good like for like replacement. Skrtel was a beast in the air last year, and we need someone good in the air alongside Agger.

to be honest it's been a pretty boring window so far , for us and everyone bar maybe chelsea. Borini and Allen if he comes might prove excellant prospects but right now it's a bit 'meh' .

Guess it's hazard , oscar and united getting kagawa which are the stand out deals so far .

Christian-Atsu-has-been-named-Rio-Ave-Player-of-the-season.jpg

English Premier League duo Liverpool and Everton are reported to be interested in Ghana youngster Christian Atsu.

The talented 20-year-old midfielder has also been a target of Tottenham Hotspur who are coached by his former trainer Andre Villas-Boas.

The Portuguese manager wants to raid his former club FC Porto to sign the whiz kid who has been likened to World Footballer of the Year Lionel Messi.

Atsu spent last season on loan at Portuguese top-flight side Rio Ave where he was named the club’s Player of the Year.

He scored on his international debut as a second-half substitute in Ghana’s 7-0 drubbing of Lesotho in a 2014 World Cup qualifier.

It looks like there will be a few players leaving when we get back from the States..

Too many average players in the squad..

Dempsey and Allen are the only targets i know that are close to signing..

Looks like the big man will definitely leave and the money will be invested in the squad..

Thoughts please.

Cheers

That would be a dream, though Jose seems to fancy him quite a bit, as he seems to start a lot for real.

What other teams have star players sitting on the bench, city, psg at a push?

Adebayors deal to Spurs seem to have fallen through

Dzeko

Tevez

Sahin

Kaka

Higuain (one can dream at least)

You both know I am not allowed to discuss that subject and I would be most obliged if you didn't bring it up.
