Assuming City win all their games with a 2-goal margin on average, it means we'll need 14 goals in total with no reply against Palace and Newcastle to tie them. That's a goal every 12.86 minutes, or an average of 3 to 4 goals every half in each of the next 4 halves, while keeping clean sheets (not doing that means having to score more, obviously).
Put that way - 3 goals every half for the next 4 halves - it doesn't sound as impossible now. However, it's a very, very difficult task, especially against Palace away. We'll need to play at a fast pace and bomb them out in the first half so they can't contemplate coming back in the second, and then go out and bomb them again in the second half.
That means having fresh attacking options ready to come in for the second 45 minutes to keep the pace up. Drop that second CB on the bench, and bring another attack-minded option. If it means having to put a couple of young and inexperienced but energetic U-21s on the bench looking to prove that they belong in next season's squad (e.g. Rossiter, Smith, Teixeira, Dunn), then we'll need to do that.
If we need any inspiration, just go back to December when we blasted Norwich, West Ham and Spurs in 3 consecutive games with 3 halves of 3 goals each (and we actually put 3 past Cardiff in a half after that too). Except that this time, we need to string them together, and that the mentality will be different now - back then, we could score, win and rest - this time, there cannot be any holding back. Score 3, fresh legs, up and at them again.
Daunting? Yes, very. Impossible? Perhaps, but not necessarily.
