The Egyptian King

If Mo was at Real Madrid, there's no way they're offering him anything more than a 1 year rolling contract.

And they'd be phasing him out right now with the next Vini Jnr/Rodrigo/Hendrick (as they did with Ronaldo/Benzema).

Conversely, if Mo were at United, they'd probably offer him a new 4 year deal.

Real would have spent 70m on the 18 year old new Mo three seasons ago, though.

United would probably pay us 80m this summer - even though he's out of contract - before signing him to that 4 year deal.

Yep, though apparently he now doesn't deserve any accolades or a new contract because he's had a barren week, but four years without a CL goal Jota is given a massive dose of faith, strangely.

Hope you aren’t suggesting we have other forwards who could be chipping in? I thought it’s all about the main man only 😉

Jota is basically Thiago, in forward form. There was a great player there once, but no longer.
And that makes me very sad.

Yeah, I’m coming round to the idea that both him and Darwin need to go.

Dunno who I’d like as replacements though.

We may need big Jorg back to make some moves. Not sure we are geared for the amount transfers we need with current lot, let's hope they been practicing FM2024 on City's login.

Are they pointless, it's essentially a list of the best attackers in the world.

I mean they're pointless in that it shouldn't be much of a surprise to anyone who's in that list.

Attacking sequence involvement.

I mean, ok. He is an attacker in a top team, and the focal point of their attack.

But alone, that stat is not really an indication of his quality.

I guess not, but you can add it to all the others that suggest he is. It's quite a big pile.

Or you could say he makes a team's attack top of the pile. We also have other strikers but I don't see them in there thought so maybe there's a reason why Mo is?
Jeez, you don't have to always look for a narrative. It's not by chance we are top and I can give you a few stats reasons why we are top of the pile and Salah is one of them.

Look, either way sooner or later we're going to have to find a new formula that works for us......and make no mistake about it, there will be a time when this club come again......how long that takes is yet to be determined. There's no point looking for an alternative for Mo is there isn't one on the market, this is where we have to put on our thinking caps and plan ahead. The team can still be as strong in Mo's absense and for sure can be as successful, that may need to come in conjuction with City's demise or at the least not being at their most dominant.

It's a small sample size but nonetheless still worthy of acknowledgement - last season during a significant period in the season, Mo missed 14 games due to AFCON and his subsequent injury. We won 11, drew 1 and lost 2 (winning a cup final in the process) - we scored 33 and conceded 11. Some would even say our attack gelled better and looked more fluid (games against Chelsea & Bournemouth).
