Salah is on track for his greatest ever season. The greatest ever season of any attacker in the premier league era. He’s going to break not only the goal scoring record but also the assist record.

He’s going to lead us to our 20th title at the ripe old age of 32 and people bang out about the fact he isn’t dominating matches.

Has adapted to the fact he can’t just burn past players.

He’s fucking phenomenal.

I do agree I wish we had someone we could rotate with him for 15-20 mins a game but we don’t and he’s still producing.

Before I look at everything Salah does wrong, I would focus on other 10 players in the team.
Fix what we need to fix most first, then focus on refinements to things that we could do better. Basic principle but will offer the most gain.

Anyway, I bet if Salah wasn't on the field and Szbo had to take a pen, he would pass it to Poor Nunez.

You respond to any criticism of him with his CV as though we aren't all aware. My post was about a very particular thing. If I wanted to talk to you about whether Salah was a very productive footballer, or whether he was good, I'd jump off my porch into a speeding vehicle instead. It's a fucking strawman.

He shouldn't be playing this much. He looks as typically jaded as ever at this stage in the season, and the manager has a replacement he doesn't trust to even manage his minutes. I don't even know if I can argue with him either. Since we aren't comfortable at any point in any game, he just keeps playing. His overall performances are really poor, especially in terms of the game state. When we can't hold onto the ball, and it goes up to Salah, I'm not sure what he thinks he is trying to do, like, what the goal is. He certainly has adapted to the fact that he can't beat people for pace in the attacking third. He hasn't when doing hold up though. When we desperately just need to keep the ball, and there's nothing on, he is not the man you want with the ball, but he's most likely to receive it.

I'm really worried, because if he continues down this track, who is picking up the slack?

Yep, the difference in minutes played in the league between say Van Dijk and Saliba, for example, is Saliba getting sent off after 30 mins, subsequent suspension and missing 1 game with injury. (And us playing 1 game more).

Saliba has logged more minutes in the League Cup & FA Cup than Virgil and less minutes in the CL due to injury and like Virgil, rested for the final game.

Nuance is allowed - and having criticism of players is a-ok (people criticized many club greats since KT among us - some valid, some not).

We'll drop a level down - Trent is going to leave us (or retire with us) as one of the best RBs in our history, and will likely have the most assists for a defender in premier league history. Any issues with people's criticism of the faults in his game? or how he creates issues for the squad at times with his play?

I don't know if I can put Salah up there with Gerrard (I didn't see Barnes enough in his pomp - sorry, English footy wasn't a reality where I lived), and he'll never be for me what God was (youth being the reason - I don't 'love' players like that anymore) but he's one of our best players ever, regardless of how this season finishes and if he continues to shatter records with us. That doesn't mean that he'll ever be free of criticism, much like Gerrard wasn't ... But the idea of a forum where we all agree on everything does sound rather riveting in today's day and age!

On another note, he was excellent today.

Nuance is allowed - and having criticism of players is a-ok (people criticized many club greats since KT among us - some valid, some not).

We'll drop a level down - Trent is going to leave us (or retire with us) as one of the best RBs in our history, and will likely have the most assists for a defender in premier league history. Any issues with people's criticism of the faults in his game? or how he creates issues for the squad at times with his play?

I don't know if I can put Salah up there with Gerrard (I didn't see Barnes enough in his pomp - sorry, English footy wasn't a reality where I lived), and he'll never be for me what God was (youth being the reason - I don't 'love' players like that anymore) but he's one of our best players ever, regardless of how this season finishes and if he continues to shatter records with us. That doesn't mean that he'll ever be free of criticism, much like Gerrard wasn't ... But the idea of a forum where we all agree on everything does sound rather riveting in today's day and age!

You know what, it’s ok for a player who has directly contributed to guessing now over 60% goals this season not to be perfect ever game. The Salah criticism for a while has gone above and beyond at times.

The point you missed is, when others in the past have been rubbish haven’t recieved the finger pointing that Salah has endured.

Enjoy him while still here, maybe just at times forgive the imperfect games and appreciate the living legend with a little more context and balance because he is a player to savour for those moments we hope may still deliver.

You seem to think I expect any player to have 'perfect' games - I don't. I criticize most players for gaffes, but also for great plays (go check who credit Salah's brilliant pass to Diaz that could have been our 3rd). It's not personal, just called it how I see it and my expectation of our best players (Salah is one of them) are to be consistently brilliant. Now he is consistently brilliant in bursts, unlike say VvD, and that is frustrating but he's a striker, so it's different. Don't know, I think he's brilliant - partially due to the man he is (dedication to his craft etc), partially because of the system (he's always had the least responsibility defensively etc) and partially because of the great teams he's played for. No complaints from me, and I'll continue to praise and complain as I see fit, and *still* think he's brilliant! 🙂 I think that shows as much context/balance as you show! 🙂

I will enjoy him, but I'm not sure I'll ever love footy like I did - so while I enjoy it, and will celebrate stuff with the kids who are enjoying a success I longed for for decades, it just isn't it ... prefer to save that for my other things in life ...

Not sure what you are disagreeing with here.
