Kaka? Fuck no he plays centrally is slow now and doesn't work for the team at all.

Lescott would be a great 'pick up' for CB.

[article]Spanish radio station Cadena Cope report on Thursday evening that Manchester United have submitted a 30 million euro offer for 24-year-old midfielder Ander Herrera.[/article]

Sorry @ILD

Lescott would cost a fair whack and a season ago Agger and/or Skrtel were being touted as upgrades on him for City, so....

I think we are about to be massively dissappointed. I think there is going to be a lot of talk about who we 'tried' to sign and how it just wasnt meant to be. We are asset stripping motherfuckers and its pissed me off.
No ambition, ONE world class player, no new stadium, no top signings.
A joke.

The desperation for us to sign just about *anyone* pisses me off as much. We've kept hold of our best player so far though, so it's hardly an asset stripping exercise, given no one wanted Carroll or Downing. Not spending but just about breaking even is criminal though, especially after the farce over Sturridge/Dempsey this time last year. Rodgers must be seething.

Im not desperate to sign ANYONE Mark. Not at all. Great we've held on to our best player. With whom we finished 7th last year and 8th the year before.
We have sold or loaned Carroll, Downing, Shelvey, (Carragher left), Suso, Assaidi, Spearing, Wilson, Reina cutting over 20m off the wage bill and making 30m in sales. We arent reinvesting all or even most of that in the team. That is shit mate. We havnt strengthened have we? From 7th? When all the teams above us (and a fair few below us) have strengthened greatly.
Its a fucking joke.

I didn't mean you mate, but the desperation for us to throw £30m on someone most people know fuck all about, and then this £10m player, than that £7m player and so on and so on.

It's strange all right, the suspicions were there last Summer when we didn't capitalise after paying out on arguably unnecessary signings in Borini and Allen (I wonder if Rodgers would have bought them, had he known how the Summer would finish?), to then go and come up with two gems largely out the blue in Coutinho and Sturridge. It defies logic, they raised questions over their willingness to invest and then pumped near £20m in during January. Are we paying for that now?

Thats the thing mate, if we dont invest big in quality before Monday then we have exactly repeated the mistakes of last summer.
Early doors signing Allen and Borini - Potential but not a massive first team fillip
Early doors signing Aspas and Alberto - Potential but not a massive first team fillip
Late in the window - Nothing, talk of Sturridge.
Late in the window - Nothing, talk of Well.....everyone.

If we dont sign anyone who can instantly freshen up and improve the first team I will be really surprised and disappointed. And if Mr Rodgers didnt know we werent going to still have money to spend later on top first team players it will be utterly shameful from the board. He will have been stitched up for the second season in a row.
He stated clearly we NOW want to get a couple of players in to strengthen the first team about a month ago, so clearly HE thought we had the money in place to support our push for the top. Probably because the hooded claw said we have the money to compete with ANYONE.
Seemingly he meant anyone in Liverpool.

Im fucked the fuck off.

I wonder if this wage restructure is THE actual stumbling block? It'd be a devastating miscalculation if we're sending Ayre to put in bids of £20m - £30m on a quality attacker, only to see ourselves being thwarted by the stranglehold of a £40k per week budget or whatever. I wouldn't be surprised.

On the plus side we are signing a 3rd choice 39 year old keeper so swings and roundabouts i suppose.

I'd imagine Sturridge will be on way more than 40k per week, considering who is former employers and wage bill would have been.
We're certainly looking better than the start of last season so I'm not quite as worried as I was back then.
Would still be nice to see another great attacker in the mix and a defender though.. (Unless Kelly really steps up and becomes a good CB)

It would appear that we dont even have one of these!

Jones must have asked to leave. He probably had hopes he could take over from Pepe eventually, yet with a 24 year old now ahead of him, he'll probably want to make something of his career as first choice lower down the league. Otherwise it makes no sense that Liverpool's so suddenly gone in for a second choice keeper.

I really don't get the attraction with Kelly, he's always struck me as a bit average, his position sense on the right is piss poor and I'm missing what everyone else seems to see with regards to him being a potential longterm centre back.

Jones must really rate himself.

I don't think the club can win, if we do deals late people moan that they should have been done earlier.

If we do deals early, there's nothing left to get excited about late in the window.

I think there's a few twists and turns left, but unless Suarez leaves I'm not expecting much.
