There has never been a more perfect goal than the following:-

When I think of classic World Cup teams and classic World Cup finals ... personally nothing beats that Brazilian team and that final. Magnificent !

Since 1976 this has always been my favourite goal. The madness of Panenka to risk chipping the keeper with the final penalty of the Euro '76 final. Considering Czechoslovakia had never won anything previously and in front of his home crowd and the whole country watching and against the World Champions...........if he had missed he would never have been seen again. He's still a big celebrity in Czech and he was doing lots of TV shows in the lead up to this Euro championship. The original and still the best "Panenka" penalty of all time.

The 2 others in my top 3 are the Carlos Alberto goal for Brazil against Italy and Terry McDermott's goal in the 7-0 win v Spurs in '78

I remember watching that Panenka goal in my final year at university. 40 years ago.

Where's my frikkin' zimmer?

I love a good counter attack. I really enjoyed the Senegal counter attack against Denmark in the 2002 world cup. My deepest apologies @Kay Age El , if this brings up any bad memories.

Great goal. Hard to believe the Salif Diao who played for us could have finished a move like that.

I like this one by Trevor Sinclair, he even done it before Wayne Wooney invented the overhead kick.

For sentimental reasons and because I am still dreaming of Laudrup, I really dig this one from 96' when Denmark beat Nigeria 4-1 in the 1/8-finals at the World Cup..

This is an otherworldly you prob all remember..

And finally, one of the most spectacular individual efforts I've seen.. (sorry for all the Zlatan)

BONUS: I've never fallen out of love with this goal by the legendary Alessandro Del Piero.. it's magic.

Tony Yeboah always springs to mind when I think of wonderful goals

Great goal but i always maintain that the fact that it hit the bar and bounced in made it "look" so much better. I've seen a lad on a Sunday league pitch score one like this. Of course there is skill involved, but it is possible to get a bit lucky with this sort of strike.

Bergkamp's sort of goal are the ones for me. First touch, composure, finish. Showcases everything required to be a top top footballer.

This effort from Eder 1982 Vs Russia always seemed to stick as one of my favourites. The dummy from Socrates, the first touch and bang, goal! I loved that team, Eder, Falcao, Socrates, Zico...

To give this thread a more Liverpool feel, this goal still astounds me to this day, I was going to post Suarez's similar goal against Norwich, but this considering the occasion, this one nicks it

This is fucking brilliant and defo one of my shouts... lucky enough to have seats in the anny road end of the main stand that night.

And anyone who's sat in my seaso will know that Suarez goal was right there in front of me. I remember at that match thinking... wow that's maybe the best goal I've ever seen... and then a few minutes later thinking... nah, that one was better.

I can't remember the order or exactly what they were like but fucking hell, the man is a genius.

Anywhizz. I saw that Zidane one in the stadium and I rex it's hard to beat. Just for complete shock value and it actually being in a CL final.

I've always been of the impression that the song went 'best around' not best 'aaaaaaaaaaaahahh' have I been wrong all these years?

It's the Zidane one for me.
the concentration, the twist of the hips, pin point.
It really is beautiful

True but that season proved Yeboah didn't just get lucky as he was smashing in ridiculous goals like this month in month out.

If you do it once off on a Sunday, its luck, if you do it all season long then you are a genius.

The following month he followed it up with this against Wimbledon.

Fuck me, touch, control, awareness, acceleration, balance, power and a rocket finish. He even used the bar again 🙂

Worth mentioning this Robbie goal.

What most people don't realise from the clip is that we had almost 30 passes before Fowlers bit of magic.

A sensational team goal!
