Rafa Benitez admits he will try to further add to his squad in the transfer window although he is happy with the players he has at his disposal.

The Liverpool boss has already brought in midfielder Maxi Rodriguez from Atletico Madrid last week but may now feel it necessary to bring in cover upfront after the news that Fernando Torres will be out for six weeks.

The Reds were linked with a loan move for Kenwyne Jones on Monday but Sunderland have already stated that the front-man is not for sale.

However Benitez knows funds are limited due to the club's poor financial situation and has been told that he must sell before he looks to buy.

"We will see if we can do something more in the transfer window," he said.

"If we cannot we will stick together for the next challenge. We have a good team, a good squad and not as bad as people think.
Confidence

"It is important to have confidence. When people say we need two strikers like Torres you say 'ok, where are these strikers and how much can you pay for them?'"

Benitez must do without arguably three of his most influential players over the next few weeks with Steven Gerrard (hamstring) and Yossi Benayoun (rib) joining Torres on the sidelines.

However the Spaniard still believes his team are capable of picking up points without the star trio and with the club just four points off fourth place, Benitez claims things can quickly change from disaster to delight in a short space of time.

"In football every week things can change and with one or two results things can be different," he added.

"When Arsenal came here (on December 13th) people were talking about them being under pressure but they won and two weeks later they are contenders and can win the title."

Deficiencies

The former Valencia manager did point out that if his side are to turn around their season they must learn to cut out the late goals that have blighted their campaign, with their stoppage time deficiencies coming back to haunt them against Reading and Stoke in the past week alone.

"We have to be better, we have to be more 'savvy' and control these games," he highlighted.

"If we cannot score the second goal at least we have to manage and win these games without playing well.

"The main thing this year is we are conceding goals so we have to be stronger in defence."

not this time Mr. Benitez. We aren't happy with this campaign and we will never be. And you can't win no. 19 this year so you can't vindicate the disasters of being knocked out of the FA cup, the CC, and the Champions League while displaying no kwality at all..

errrrr????? most of us are just asking if we can just have two strikers, particularly handy when we have fuck all when Torres is missing.

Haha. it's kind of fundamental isn't it - like asking for four tyres on your car instead of two and any chance of fully transparent windows while you're at it?

Please, we can't go a third consecutive transfer window without replacing the last recognised striker, other than Torres, we had, surely to God

Well for fucks sake, keep saying it then

If we fail to bring in a striker, Rafa needs to be put down.

Zigic, Huntelaar and RVN are availeble. They would all add something to our attack and could be loaned.

Get on your phone Rafa.

Which is frequently said so not to spell disaster if the negotiations fall through.

Benitez knows this squad isn't good enough.

No, the main thing is everywhere, cause Rafa sure has HELL doesn't have us playing attacking football worthy of Catalonia (or even West Ham). Sad thing is we are much worse at the back then either of those. Not that he should say it of course
