He'll definitely be missed, but I expect allen and lucas to step up their game to cover for the loss.

Suspended Hendo to travel with team

A three-match suspension will not stop Jordan Henderson from contributing to the Liverpool cause, with the midfielder set to travel to Norwich City with the squad for this weekend's clash.

The No.14 received a red card in stoppage time as the Reds successfully downed Manchester City last Sunday, with the referee penalising a sliding challenge on Samir Nasri in the closing seconds.

After being sent off at Anfield, Henderson must now suffer the frustration of watching from the sidelines as his colleagues attempt to maintain their position at the Barclays Premier League summit.

He will do it from the confines of the stadium, however, as Brendan Rodgers has explained why the 23-year-old's presence on a matchday can provide a benefit for the players eligible to compete.

"Jordan will still travel with the team," the manager revealed. "I've told him he's a vital member of the group.

"He might not be able to affect the next three games on the field but he's going to be very important for our changing room, our travelling and our hotels because he's very much a part of us.

"We'll lose him on the field but we can't lose his personality off the field as well, which is why he'll still travel and be a part of what we're doing."

We're really going to miss him. I would like us to sign a truly world class midfield in the summer because we are not deep enough at this position to fight on two fronts. As I think was pretty evident today. In my mind that shouldn't mean Henderson plays any less games or is any less important.

Hopefully we can get either Pogba or pin Arsenal back and pull a "big boy" move to get Ramsey.

Ramsey would be my target £25m bid(+ £1) and up his wages to x 25% to £4m, it all depends on their CL prospects though.

I love it how he looks so despondent that he's not playing. It's still tearing him up. Has he smiled since he got sent off?

I hope he destroys Newcastle.

We missed him breaking out from the back today, Allen was brilliant, but him and Lucas want to sit all the time. It nearly cost us at times.

Is there any chance they could fool the officials by sticking a shirt that has Lucas' name and number on it and sending him out to play next weekend?

Yeah - we need a world class box to box Midfielder as the ultimate replacement for SG, and we need a super world class defender as priority. No way would I risk buying Ramsey as I think he is injury prone and will probably not be available for most of every season.

I'd like to see us look at Casemiro of Real Madrid. Looks like he could be a really good player, but he's going to struggle to get serious minutes in that crowded midfield,

I think his size and build would play fantastically in the league.

I think ideally he'd have played Allen already and dropped Coutinho / Sterling next week. So now he might play both, which is shit, because Lucas is gash and could really fuck us up against Chelsea.

I never thought I'd say it bit we're really going to miss Henderson. He's been ace this year and up there with Raheem and Suarez as most improved players of the season.

I suggested Casemiro as a talent long ago, but he hasn't played much football since Sao Paulo, so it's difficult to assess if he can make the transition to a top European league.

In any event, he's more of a holding midfielder and with Gerrard now occupying that position for good, I think Rodgers' priority will be getting competition for Allen and Henderson i.e. mobile, high energy all-purpose midfielders. Which is why I guess we've been linked with the likes of Andre Gomes and Dani Parejo.

I think the idea with a signing like Casemiro is that we need depth long term in that holding position anyways. Gerrard has a firm hold on the position, but beyond him we only have Lucas. I think it may be the time to sell Lucas this summer if we stick to this system, as Lucas showed today that he doesn't have the ability to play in one of the more advanced CM roles, both in terms of energy and technique.

While I wouldn't have a problem keeping Lucas, it seems shortsighted to keep him as depth when he can only play one position for us, and that position will only be available when Gerrard isn't fit. And while Gerrard's minutes are going to decline in the coming seasons, I don't think Lucas is the ideal depth solution.

A player like Casemiro would at least be competent in the more advanced roles, and he can to some extent compensate his lack of energy with his physical build. Getting some genuine hold up play in the midfield is just as valuable for me as the high energy CMs.

Nainggolan is another one I quite like for the CM spots.

Another thing we miss of his is his long passing. Allen and Lucas never even attempt it.

Well he should be able to do those passes from deep otherwise what the hell would u classify as a long pass if not from deep positions. As for selling lucas - was thinking exactly the same. Keep allen and hederson and get the best possible high energy midfielder with skill to burn.

Take your point - perhaps we need to buy two CMs. I'm uncomfortable going into a CL season having only two specialist advanced CMs. Three is the very minimum, and I anyway think we need someone of serious quality to compete with Allen & Henderson.

Nainggolan is superb - the best young DM out there at the moment IMO. He's also a pretty high energy player so I suppose he could play the advanced CM role as well, but I think his calling card will be his defensive work, and his simple, efficient passing. That said, Roma have already agreed to buy him I believe, so he's really out of bounds.

Schneiderlin is another one of the ilk. But if we want someone to deputise for Gerrard as a holding playmaker alone, Milan Badelj at Hamburg would be a very cheap and excellent option.

Sorry but can i just add that in case the players mentioned are from any country other than italy i am all for it. Beyond the defensive perimeter i dont have faith that players from serie A will do well in our league. I am talking about native italians not their imports.

I think the shopping list is something like an outright winger, a CAM/Winger/Striker type flex player, a CM, and a FB.

I'd like to see us recruit a slightly more defensive CM though, someone who can if need be play the holding role, but also play in a more advanced spot, replacing Lucas's spot on the roster. I think Gonalons might be a good pick for that description, but I remember him being linked heavily with Napoli in past windows. Schneiderlin would be an excellent signing at the right price, but it's hard to say how willing to sell Southampton will be without wanting a stupid fee.

Depending on how our summer shapes up though, I could see us adding another more attacking CM, especially if Luis Alberto and/or Texeira go on loan, as well as what happens with Suso. I personally think Luis Alberto's true calling is in one of those central CM roles for us.

Rakitic is the other obvious name that comes to mind, but I would think there'll be a ton of competition for him. I remember thinking Boateng(One at Schalke) would be a really good fit as well, but I haven't been keeping up with his progress this year. Borja Valero and Benat are two others I thought could be smart buys last summer, but I'm not sure how they've done this year either.

We missed him massively. Chelsea game we'll miss him even more. He's going to be an animal when he comes in against Newcastle. If we have to win that game to win the title and he's playing we'll smash them.

I didn't realise until I went to Anfield this season how much of a leader on the pitch he's become– organising, pulling players into position, instructing at throw-ins and so on. He's not just some human Duracel bunny, though he is that, he's a future captain.

If he can keep on improving then he could possibly take over gerrards' role as the playmaker when gerrard retires.

Great vid that. Lovely to see a vid highlighting how so much of that ugly work he does contributes to something beautiful, as well as him hitting passes almost as sexily as our glorious captain. Cheers for that.
