Super Mario

Fine. You still need him, especially as Sturridge is likely to have injuries, and Lambert is older than most other top teams' forwards, so that means he would indeed be on the bench quite a few times. Or without him we'd have loads on here moaning about why there are so many defenders/midfielders on the bench when we need goals. Hope you won't be one of them with your three strikers fetish.

We've also got Sterling - so make that four (I guess).

Bona fide strikers. Like Arsenal, who could well be our major rivals for a top four place again, we have a big block of good midfielders but a relatively limited set of striking options. This signing puts us ahead by some distance IMHO, but it's a long season, we're the team taking a big step up in terms of number of games and high pressure matches (with the spectre of Hodgson haunting us with his tried and tested means of playing our players with niggling injuries for England), and for that reason I don't think we can afford to just assume we'll muddle through. The top teams are spoilt for choice. We need four strikers.

Probably my fave non LFC football pic ever.

I surprisingly find myself on board the Mario train.
It is a risk but then what transfer isn't somewhat of a risk these days.
Barca just spent £75m on a nutjob that keeps biting people and who runs the risk of getting a long term ban from football.
For the risk of less than £20m with a potentially huge reward it is worth taking in my opinion.
He could be our version of that French, collar up. twat.

My sentiments exactly.

This signing should drag Ross out of lurking. He's an original in the Balo Fan Club.

I don't think we need 4 strikers, not if we basically play 1 up front. I'd perhaps prefer someone better than Lambert as the third choice (Origi!!) but he's signed now so I suppose we have to factor him in as a significant part of the squad.

City have 4 but they play 4-4-2. Chelsea have 3, and one is 36 and another is Torres.

Who said we couldn't get a like-for-like replacement for Suarez? Mario is EASILY as fucking insane, if not more so.

I'd love to see Balotelli and Sturridge in a 4-2-2 diamond, so much pace and power. Coutinho and Markovic will have a field day with there through balls.

Problem is Balottelli is even worse than studge at closing down players. Opposition defenders are gonna get an easy ride this season. Of all the players, fucking balotelli. If Rodgers can fix this fuckwit he'll be hailed as a miracle worker. I hope this isn't rodgers ego at work thinking he can do what previous managers have failed to do.

Here's a statistic for you. Assuming Balotelli joins us for the rumoured £16million, we've signed Sturridge, Coutinho, Sterling, Balotelli and Lambert for one Mezut Ozil.

This will be pilfered. Lets just hope we don't lose 1-0 to Arsenal with an Ozil winner!

I imagine he's not his first choice, in fact he even said a few weeks ago he wasn't interested. When you don't have many options, you have to take what's available, it's not an ego thing.

It's probably more the fact no one else wants to join us and whilst we've signed Reus, we've agreed for him to stay in Dortmund for a year out of respect to Jurgen Kloop.

To be fair, we've got Steve Peters and none of the rest do. AFAIC he's the miracle worker.

I know what you mean, but that wouldn't be my first thought when considering a squad that includes

Sturridge
Sterling
Balotelli
Coutinho
Lallana
Markovic

I suppose we could use Markovic in that role.

Sturridge needs someone alongside to drag defenders away in order to be at his most effective.

Lambert did that last weekend. If Lambert can do it then Ballotelli sure as fuck can.

Again, the point is he's not a bona fide striker. We've got loads of players who can try to play in that role, but that's another issue. If we're going to compete against the likes of City, all season, we need more than players helping out by playing out of position. It's an area we need to strengthen.
