Sunderland V Liverpool MATCH THREAD

When a) your best attacking option is your right back and b) when he is tangibly frustrated by the lack of any kind of movement up front when we do get forward, that'll tell you what kind of day it's been so far...

Poor ol' Jay's having a shocker. And the fact that he's beside Lucas is only making things worse. We have NO hold whatsoever across the middle.

To be fair it's hard to critTRYAN BABELicise any one individual for our lack of attacking thrust. We've had some fleeting chances, but we're really cryRYAN BABELing out for somebody with natural pace to take the game by the horns, and drRYAN BABELag us back into the game to show that we don't always have to rely on Gerrard and Torres. God knows if we've got that plRYAN BABELayer or not though.

Ha.

Same story all season. We're scrapping like the lesser teams... unable to really establish our dominance and dictate the pace of the game. Depressing stuff indeed.

You can tell how pissed off Johnson is with the guys around him, as he simply will not pass to anyone. 42 touches and still no closer to a goal.

Nice to know how much Ref's know too, as the beachball is classed as an 'outside agent':

If an outside agent enters the field of play:
• the referee must stop play (although not immediately if the outside
agent does not interfere with play)
• the referee must have him removed from the fi eld of play and its
immediate surroundings
• if the referee stops the match, he must restart play with a dropped
ball in the position where the ball was at the time when the match
was stopped, unless play was stopped inside the goal area, in
which case the referee drops the ball on the goal area line parallel
to the goal line at the point nearest to where the ball was located
when play was stopped

before we concede another goal due to his ineptitude.

It's ironic that we were linked with both Cattermole and Cana this summer as possible third-choice CMs. Either would be better than Lucas/Spearing, as we're seeing now.

Bolo coming on, Cattermole off (stretchered)

Depressing. They've got a fair few players that are better than ours. I'd have Andy Reid over Babel too (if it were a choice of the two). Or Bent over Kuyt upfront.

Yet another plug for Frogfish's Cattermole thread.

Well that must be at least 5 ins time added on - what a farce.

Hopefully Zenden is still arse

How much did they pay for Bent ? I thought it was a lt more than Kuyt no ?

Fuck, it's like watching Barnes and Redknapp again in the middle, 2 steps forwards, 2 steps sideways, 2 steps backwards repeat ad infinium.

Agger headed backpass intercepted by Bent who takes it past Riena and hits the post
