Merson said we were playing very well but Sunderland look dangerous on the break
Half-time, a few points:
We're getting murdered down our left-side. Aurelio's been burned for pace several times, and Agger's been seriously sloppy.
Dirk's dropping too deep to get the ball. You're the striker Dirk, stay up and stretch things.
There's no creativity coming from midfield, all our attacking thrust is coming from either Johnson or Benayoun.
Babel's a waste of time. How many opportunities are we going to give him?
We're far far far too narrow. I've no idea why Babel and Benayoun don't swap wings to try and give us some width down one flank at least.
And finally, bringing Mascherano and Riera on would immediately improve our team. Sometimes it's as basic as that.

Yes. In October. We're not making up 12pts on United and possibly 9pts on Chelsea and Arsenal.

Well, I only saw the last five minutes of that, but we were definitely on top during that period. Johnson looks likely to make something happen, though his slowness and indecisiveness cost us a couple of possible opportunities. Kuyt was playing well; Babel seemed to have no idea what position he was supposed to be playing. It's an odd-looking formation, that's for sure. Hopefully Rafa will swallow his pride at HT, realise it's not working, and change it round. Sunderland are beatable, but we need to score the next goal. If they get a second, the best we'll manage is a draw.

Well theoretically we have our 4 best players (and our 3 most creative) out injured or on the bench : Gerrard, Torres, Aquilani & Masherano. If you take the best 4 players out of any team ... and add a balloon to the opposition ranks, then there are going to be repercussions. The fact that, according to the reports I'm seeing, we have been the more attacking team seems to indicate that we are not a 2 man team at all.
